Two Executive members of the Untied Democratic Party (UDP) are in talks with Adama Barrow for a possible defection from the UDP, this medium can reveal. The two UDP officials were separately invited to the State House for a meeting with Barrow. Per reports reaching this medium, plans are afoot to lobby the two to jump from the UDP ship.
Over the past few days, Barrow has been inviting artists, regional leaders, and some members of the opposition to the State House. The goal for such meetings was to lobby support for his administration ahead of the much talked about December three years jotna protest march. Barrow is also planning to set up a political party in the New Year.
According to highly placed sources, one of the UDP Executive members met Barrow over the weekend. He was asked by Barrow if he could “consider joining his team for national development.”
The UDP official hasn’t made any definitive position on joining Barrow’s team. He was promised with job and other opportunities he could benefit from team Barrow.
Adama Barrow’s recruitment team has been making waves, when it comes to the recruitment of others to join their team. This would come to light during Barrow’s upcoming nationwide meet the farmers tour.
Inside the UDP, there is panic, confusion and mistrust amongst party’s leadership. The UDP officials have been responding to Barrow’s invitations without Darboe’s knowledge or consent in some occasions.
