A gas explosion has been reported in The Gambia. The Banjul oxygen gas factory located in Kanifing is on fire. Heavy explosions, and massive smoke have been heard in the area. The fire is circulating. The gas plant is not far from Jimpex.
“Banjul oxygen gas factory is on fire. Today is the hottest day in October. At 16.00h the climate was 34%c. The factory is completely burnt,” said a Gambian on the ground.
Eliman Jallow, a Gambian caller tells Freedom Radio Gambia that the fire incident is causing panic in the area. He says travelers and motorists have been struggling to evade the heavy smoke.
Efforts are underway to doze off the fire. The cause of the fire is unknown.
