The former junta Vice Chairman and Defense Minister Edward Singhateh has safely returned to Nigeria, where he is currently resided with his family, the Freedom Newspaper can authoritatively report. Singhateh, who was in Banjul to give evidence before the Truth, Reconciliation and Reparations Commission (TRRC) left Banjul on Wednesday night for Abuja, Nigeria. This followed his reconciliation with his former colleague Sanna Bairo Sabally at the TRRC, which was nationally broadcast.
Singhateh left Banjul at around 1:00 PM GMT. He flew with his Diplomatic Passport. He experienced no difficulties at the airport, while trying to flyout.
It should be noted that Singhateh has been accused as being the prime suspect behind the murder of Gambia’s former Finance Minister Ousman Koro Ceesay. He told the TRRC that he thinks that Koro was killed by the MFDC rebels. He claimed that Ceesay was tasked to handover Libyan funds in the sum of $280,000 dollars to the rebels prior to this assassination. He has denied killing Koro Ceesay.
