FORMER JUNTA SPOKESMAN RENOUNCES HIS SUPPORT FOR ADAMA BARROW AND HIS GOV’T; SAYS BARROW LACKS PRAYERS AND IS UNFIT TO RULE GAMBIA

The former junta spokesman retired army Captain Ebou Jallow has renounced his support for Adama Barrow, Freedom Newspaper can report. Jallow made the renunciation during Freedom Radio Gambia’s Sunday prime time Leral show. “ I have decided to renounce my support for Adama Barrow and his government. Barrow is a corrupt leader. He is running the most inept corrupt, and failed government. I cannot support a leader, who is dishonest, and discriminatory,” Jallow remarked.

Jallow comments followed a commission of inquiry white paper report in which Adama Barrow decided to exonerate some officials indicted by the commission. Among those Barrow let go was his Chief Protocol Alhagie Ousman Ceesay, Finance Mamburay Njie, and Fatou Mass Jobe, a former Tourism Minister under dictator Jammeh’s rule.

The Commission had recommended that Ceesay and Njie should be fired from the government and also be banned from occupying government jobs in their lifetime. But Barrow has decided to overrule the Commission’s findings.

Jallow himself was indicted by the Commission white paper report. He felt that Barrow had abdicated his sworn duties and responsibilities as the nation’s President.

“This was a guy, who had taken an oath that he was going to discharge his duties as President without fear of Cavour or ill will. His biased decision on the Janneh Commission report has shown his lack of respect for the rule of law.  Barrow had violated his oath of office. His promise to Gambians was that he was going to uphold and defend the law, but that is not the case. He is cherry picking on the Janneh Commission report,” he added.

Jallow said under normal circumstances, the National Assembly should have open impeachment proceedings against Barrow. He says Barrow’s failure to enforce the recommendations of the Commission clearly shows that he (Barrow) is out to legitimize corruption in his government. He said there is no way Alhagie Ceesay, Mamburay Njie, and Fatou Mass Jobe should be let scot free when the likes of Momodou Sabally, and himself have been unjustly indicted.

“In my view, Adama is a slave. His entire cabinet are slaves. He is not a man of his words. He had lied to Gambians. Barrow lacks prayers. His government lacks prayers. He lacks wisdom. He is not a promised leader. He is unfit to rule The Gambia. He has betrayed the wishes and aspirations of Gambians. I cannot support such a failure. Corruption is endemic in his rule. With effect from today, I have decided to renounce my support for Adama Barrow and his government,” he remarked.

Jallow says Barrow represent evil and failure. He says Barrow is a curse to The Gambia and her people.

“I have lost faith in Adama Barrow and his government. He has betrayed Gambians. Barrow is a novice. I seriously doubt that he is sane. This guy is not with himself. He is being micromanaged by Alhagie Ceesay and co. He destroying the country. His government has no prospect. He should consider resigning. He has no clue about what he is doing,” Jallow said.

According to Jallow, the Janneh Commission was flawed. He has denied conspiring with Yankuba Touray, and Edward Singhateh to steal $30 million dollars Taiwanese funds that were meant for The Gambian government.

“The Commission never wrote to me to inform me that there was an adverse findings against me. I learned about its findings from the publicized white paper. This was wrong,” Jallow told Freedom Radio.

Jallow says Barrow is now trying to use the military to crush at freedom of assembly. He condemned the weekly programs aired on state television in which top security chiefs would use the forum to scare government critics, and the three years Jotna group.

“That foolish army Commander Mamat Cham this past week, had  used to that show to threaten Gambians. He said that the army will step in if any group of protesters wanted for force Barrow to leave office. That was an irresponsible statement. Mamat Cham is undermining the security reform. The army has no business in domestic matters. Barrow is using them to impose himself to Gambians. The fact of the matter is that Barrow is unpopular. Gambians have lost faith in him. His only hope now is the rogue security forces. I cannot support a leader, who threatens his people. Gambians voted against Yahya Jammeh because they wanted an unrestricted democratic freedoms and liberties. Who is Mamat Cham to threaten our people. Gambians should speak up and condemn such a dastardly act. Mamat Cham will end up betraying Barrow. I was in the army with him. He was jailed by the junta because he wanted to counter coup the July 22nd coupists. He wouldn’t hesitate to turn against Barrow if there are disturbances in The Gambia,” he alleged.

GAMBIA’S ANTI-CRIME POLICE CHIEF GORRGI MBOOB CONFESSES TO BEING A SERIAL LIAR AT THE TRRC!

A Gambian police chief has on Monday confessed to lying to the country’s Truth, Reconciliation and Reparations Commission (TRRC). Assistant police Commissioner Gorrgi Mooob, has admitted to being a serial liar. He says he lied to the Commission about the role he had played in quelling a student demonstration back in April of 2000 under dictator Jammeh’s rule. Fourteen students were killed during that protest march, including journalist Pa Omar Barrow.

Police Commissioner Gorrgi Mboob has also confessed to lying to a Commission of inquiry that was set up during dictator Yahya Jammeh’s rule and the recently formed TRRC. Mboob is the Commander of Gambia’s anti-police crime unit force. He had served the force for over thirty years. Mboob had also admitted to lying to the TRRC investigators including his Monday testimony.

It was back in April of 2000, when Mboob was accused of taking part in quelling a student demonstration, which led to the massacre of fourteen students, including the killing of journalist Pa Omar Barrow. Barrow was also a Red Cross Volunteer. Dozens of students were also brutally injured with gunshot wounds.

Mboob had claimed that he was coached by his superiors at the police to lie to the previous Commission that was set up under Jammeh’s rule to investigate the student killings. He says he was warned by Sankung Badjie, the former Deputy Inspector General of police not to relate the true story about what had transpired.

Mboob says he had wanted to adduce in evidence about what happened on April 10th, 2000 but was told that if he ventures into naming names or disclosing his role on the incident, he would live to regret it. He complied with his superiors’ instructions. He adds that Jaye Sowe, a former police chief, who now lives in the United States witnessed his conversation with DIG Sankung Badjie.

Mboob and his co accused security colleagues were later granted amnesty by dictator Yahya Jammeh. They were indemnified from prosecution.

Mboob repeated the same lying pattern during his Monday appearance at the TRRC. While answering questions from Lead Counsel Essa Faal, the police chief confessed to lying to the Commission about his testimony on the Saint Augustin High School incident. He had initially denied illegally entering the school, where he open fire at students. He also assaulted the physical education teacher Mr. Sabally.

Mboob told the TRRC Chairman Dr. Lamin Cise that if he had refused to comply with his superiors’ orders to lie to the then Lartey Commission, he was going to be fired from his work.

Also grilling the witness, was TRRC Commissioner Adelaide Sosseh. Mrs. Sosseh put it to Moob that Mr. Sabally had never behaved towards him amazingly to warrant he (Mboob) to assault Sabally. Mboob in response agreed. He admitted to unlawfully assaulting Sabally. He says he had regretted his actions. He promises not to repeat it. He even apologized to Sabally and his victims.

Mboob has promised to live by the TRRC’s Never again mantra. He called on his colleagues to avoid executing illegal orders.

The Purpose and Objective of The New Gambia have been defeated as the Democracy has been abused tremendously as some People have taken the law into their own hands to sell the BIRTH RIGHTS of The GAMBIA to FOREIGNERS and for money destined for their own pockets only.

This Selfish practice has to be stopped IMMEDIATELY and whatever Company concerned in Shenzhen China and the unidentified Authorities in The Gambia have to be brought to Justice.

The Image of The Gambia and the respect and value of our Diplomatic Passport are at stake so the quicker the Gambian Authorities react the better. The Confidence restored by the International Community since the departure of Yaya Jammeh will diminish eventually as we are not respecting our Good Governance Institutions.

The Gambia Embassy in Beijing should investigate this matter immediately with the China Public Security Department to determine if it is SCAM or REAL as it is already on line and The Chinese Government / Intelligence would have already picked it up.

FROM A CONCERNED GAMBIAN IN CHINA

MAY ALLAH SUBHANAHU WA TA ALA GUIDE AND PROTECT THE GAMBIA AND ITS PEOPLE ADVERTISEMENT IN CHINA FOR THE SALE OF GAMBIAN DIPLOMATIC PASSPORTS IN THE TUNE OF $500,000.00 ( FIVE HUNDRED THOUSAND UNITED STATES DOLLARS) MINIMUM UP TO $1,000,000.00 (ONE MILLION UNITED STATES DOLLARS) MAXIMUM

It is common knowledge that a DIPLOMATIC PASSPORT by all indicators and according to the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, is the sole property of a Sovereign State, which has the Sole authority to issue it to whoever that is entitled owing to a national position of Authority or an assignment given and with the approval of the Highest Authority in the Land or the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

The SALE of such a sacred and privileged Document in return for money for one’s ulterior motive is most unprofessional and a gross criminal Act punishable by Law.

Whiles following on the evolution of the Gambian Diplomatic Saga in the Gambia at the moment | was SHOCKED when some Chinese Friends drew my attention to an advertisement carried on line by a Chinese Company in Shenzhen:

The said advertisement for interested applicants is only in Chinese Language and not in English or any other language which makes me to believe that the targeted clientele for the culprits is only for the Chinese.

SCANDALOUS DEAL-BARROW’S GOV’T AWARDS THE OCEAN BAY HOTEL RECEIVERSHIP TO A COMPANY LINKED TO THE DEPUTY LEADER OF GAMBIA’S ELECTORAL COMMISSION!

$

The corrupt Barrow State House has sealed another major deal, Freedom Newspaper can reveal. The latest deal has to do with the Ocean-Bay Hotel, which was under receivership during the Janneh Commission. The Hotel had been subjected to two receivership during the concluded Janneh Commission. Now, the Mangkamang-Kunda rookie and power intoxicated jester has decided to use an official of the Independent Electoral Commission Malleh Sallah to help manage the Ocean Bay hotel.

A company linked to Mr. Salleh called the Leisure Group has been contracted to manage the Ocean Bay Hotel, according to sources reaching this medium.

An internet research conducted by the Freedom Newspaper has revealed that “In the span of half a decade, The Djeliba Leisure Group has distinguished itself by becoming the most successful, far reaching and reputable hospitality group in The Gambia (The Smiling Coast Of West Africa). Since it’s inception Djeliba Leisure Group has been able to set up a wide range of businesses, which include Djeliba Hotel/Apartments, The Poco Loco Beach Club, Sitanunku Lodge and most recently Djembe Beach Resort which was inaugurated on the 18th of September, 2015. At Djembe Beach resort we take pride in guaranteeing the comfort of our guests. Communicating With our guests ranks highly on our list of guiding principles.” (Source: http://www.djemberesort.com/about.html).

The company also had ties with NorrGam. http://www.norrgam.com/contact-us/ It has offices in Sweden as well.

The State House’s decision to award the receivership of Ocean Bay Hotel to the Leisure Group without public tender has raises eyebrows in some quarters. The IEC Deputy Chairman Malleh Sallah was granted the contract to house the hosting of the Janneh Commission at his Djeliba Hotel. The Commission’s proceedings were held at the Hotel. That contract was also not tendered.

Now political analysts are concerned about what they called a possible conflict of interest—given Sallah’s role and position at the election Commission—the IEC. He is the number two man at the IEC. If the current IEC Chairman is fired or retired, he is likely going to succeed him. Analysts believed that Sallah’s credibility to host a transparent, fair and credible elections is questionable—given his business relationship with the Barrow status quo.

Mr. Sallah and the State House could not be reached for immediate comment.

SPANISH DIPLOMAT KILLS GAMBIAN MOTORBIKE RIDER IN LOWER NUIMI; POLICE SAY THEY LACKED POWERS TO ARREST THE DIPLOMAT!

A Spanish Diplomat has killed a Gambian with his Diplomatic car on Thursday, the Freedom Newspaper can reveal. The automobile accident occurred on a road located in Lower Nuimi, in the North Bank Region of The Gambia. The death victim has been identified as one Modou Sarr, a native of Kerra Jatta village. Sarr was riding a motorbike, when the Spanish Diplomatic driver ran over him. He died on the spot. The driver was coming from the Senegalese end of the road at the time of accident. The Diplomat works at the Spanish Embassy in Dakar, Senegal

Mr. Sarr’s son Baboucarr Sarr, phoned Freedom Newspaper late Thursday evening to report about the tragic accident, which claimed his Dad’s life. Sarr alleged that the Diplomat was driving at a high speed, when he hits his Dad with his Diplomatic car.

According to Sarr, the Spanish national was first processed by the police in Amadali, a border police post, and later referred to the Barra police station. He says the Officer Commanding the region stationed at the Barra police station said there wasn’t much that the police could have done on the matter because an international convention prohibits the police from arresting a foreign Diplomat.

The Spanish Diplomat was later asked to leave the station, but was instructed to  report to the station the following day. Sarr is wondering as to whether there is selective justice in The Gambia. He wants the Spanish Diplomat to be charged and taken to court.

According to the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic relations of 1961, foreign Diplomats should not be arrested by member states (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vienna_Convention_on_Diplomatic_Relations).

Below is the summary of some of the said provisions barring states from arresting diplomats.

  • Article 24 establishes that the archives and documents of a diplomatic mission are inviolable. The receiving country shall not seize or open such documents.
  • Article 27. The host country must permit and protect free communication between the diplomats of the mission and their home country. A diplomatic bag must never be opened even on suspicion of abuse. A diplomatic courier must never be arrested or detained.
  • Article 29. Diplomats must not be liable to any form of arrest or detention. They are immune from civil or criminal prosecution, though the sending country may waive this right under Article 32.
  • Article 31.1c Actions not covered by diplomatic immunity: professional activity outside diplomat’s official functions.
  • Article 34 speaks about tax exemption of diplomatic agents while Article 36 establishes that diplomatic agents are exempted from custom duties.
  • Article 37. The family members of diplomats that are living in the host country enjoy most of the same protections as the diplomats themselves.

The Gambian police haven’t commented on the story yet. The Sarr family are demanding justice in this matter.

I HAVE FORGIVEN MILITARY POLICE OFFICER SARJO CONTEH-MC CHAM DECLARES AT A SUPER-KANJA RECONCILIATION LUNCH

An official of the opposition The Gambia Democratic Congress Party (GDC) MC Cham, says he has forgiven Sarjo Conteh, a military police officer, he claimed had threatened his life. MC says what happened between him and Conteh was a misunderstanding, and he has decided to let go and move on with his life. This followed an apology made by Mr. Conteh and his family to Cham to consider reconciling with the soldier. Cham accepted his apology in good faith.

It should recalled that Cham, speaking to the Freedom Newspaper late Friday evening says he was at a friend’s house, where Conteh allegedly threatened to break his legs if he (Cham) ever joins a group called three years “jotna” to protest against Adama Barrow’s government come December. Conteh has earlier denied the allegations.

The three years movement said come December, they will organize protest marches that would compel Barrow to relinquish power.

Barrow had earlier promised to run a three years transition period after which he would resign an continue with real estate business. He has since walked away from his promise. Barrow is currently busy consolidating himself in power.

Pa Nderry Touray of Star FM Radio and his vou mates championed the reconciliation between the duo. The reconciliation was held at Mr. Touray’s home, where both Sarjo Conteh and MC Cham forgave each other and shook hands. It was a reconciliatory moment. Conteh and Cham have decided to reconcile their differences.

The peacemaker Pa Nderry Touray prepared a reconciliation lunch for the duo. MC Cham arrived late for the super-kanja lunch.

Cham was present during the peace talks. He says he has wholeheartedly forgiven Mr. Conteh.

Following a breakthrough, group pictures were taken. Conteh and Cham took a picture, where they shook hands.

Customize

Speaking to the Freedom Newspaper, MC Cham said he has decided to forgive Mr. Conteh in good faith. He says his party leader Mama Kandeh had recommended that  the matter to be resolved peacefully, which occasioned Conteh and his brother to sincerely apologize to him.

“I have decided to let go. I am done with this matter. I have accepted his apology. We have both decided to reconcile and move on,” Cham remarked.

Cham said he has supported the three years jotna movement’s right to protest, but he clarified that he is not part of the movement. He had advised Mr. Conteh to focus on his job as a soldier and defend the territorial integrity of the country and her people.

Also speaking to the Freedom Newspaper, was Sarjo Conteh himself. He says the misunderstanding between him, and his buddy MC Cham have been peacefully resolved.

“We have ironed out our differences. Both MC and I have decided to forgive each other and move on. As I am speaking to you, we are together hanging out. We are about to go to the field to watch the game,” Conteh remarked.

BARROW GIVES IMAMS AND SUPREME ISLAMIC COUNCIL OVER D1 M DALASIS TO TOUR COUNTRY TO CONVINCE VILLAGERS TO SUPPORT HIS FIVE YEARS MANDATE

The confused rookie “leader” Adama Barrow has recruited a team of religious leaders—mainly Imams and the leadership of the Supreme Islamic Council to brainwash Gambian villagers, in his latest desperate attempts to stay in power for five years—opposed to the three years transitional rule he had promised Gambian voters when elected into office back in December of 2016, Freedom Newspaper can reveal. The delegation is led by Momodou Lamin Touray, the President of the SIC, SIC Secretary General Dr. Mbye Kah, Oustas Ibrima Jarju, Omar Pa Bai Gitteh, Sheriff Badjan, Banjul Imam Ratib Cherno Kah, Alieu Mboge and others.

The main goal for the tour is to help convince villagers to support Barrow’s failed five years agenda. They are also launching a campaign against the three years jotna movement.

Three years jotna is a movement that says it intends to organize nationwide protest marches come December to compel Barrow to step down from power. Jotna is a Wollof dialect. It means “it is time.”

The delegation had meetings in Barra and Essau. The delegation also had a meeting at Medina Serign Mass Kah. The meeting was chaired by Alhagie Modou Joof, of GRTS and dictator Jammeh’s onetime local interpreter. They are now heading to the Regional Division of Kerewan.

The delegation has been allocated over one million dalasis to tour the length and breadth of the country. Barrow is employing dictator Jammeh’s playbook by using the religious leaders to execute his political bidding.

The same Jammeh religious political actors are on Barrow’s payroll for usage. Our team on the ground are monitoring the tour. We will keep you posted with developments.

MEMO—THE DEFENSE MINISTRY SENSITIVE DIARY

AUTHOR- PA NDERRY M’BAI

SUBJECT- DEFENSE MINISTER OMAR FAYE MISTAKENLY SENDS A WRONG SENSITIVE MESSAGE TO AN INDEPENDENT JOURNALIST

                       DISCLOSURES

The former Gambian Ambassador to Washington DC Sheikh Omar Faye was not in my good books during dictator Jammeh’s rule. I was equally not in Faye’s good books. This was largely due to my principled stance to expose a Corrupt and murderous government that he had dearly supported.

After the change of government back in December of 2016, Faye extended what he called “a brotherly love to me” and asked for a “reconciliation.” This was shortly after his appointment to head The Gambian Consulate in Jeddah. I responded back in the positive.

A former Freedom Radio Gambia Contributor Alhagie Salieu Njie, facilitated the reconciliation. Njie lives in Sweden. He had now relocated to Ireland due to work related commitments.

Faye told me that he was ready to reconcile with me and move on despite our past differences in political opinions, and beliefs. I told him that I was merely doing my required journalistic job during Jammeh’s era. I never hated him.

Recently, when I was hospitalized, Faye told a Banjul native based in the United States that it was sad for him to hear about my hospitalization. He also told the person that he spoke with that their were two people he hated most in The Gambia. My humble self Pa Nderry was among those he hated most. He said the second person was a relative of his.

After our reconciliation, Faye told me in a subsequent conversation that he prayed for me during his pilgrimage in Mecca, a move I appreciated. We have been cool since then.

For the record, Omar Faye has never been my source. He has never supplied me any information during his employment with the Barrow government. He had repeatedly appeared on Alhagie Salieu Njie’s show on Freedom radio. I have also interviewed him during his debacle with the sacked former Protocol and Welfare officer Ebrima Dibba.

COMMUNICATION

It was this past week that the newly appointed Defense Minister Omar Faye contacted me via a WhatsApp chat to draw my attention to one my Freedom Radio Loral show radio recent program commentaries. In that program, I commented on air that Faye facilitated the release of the July protesters—rapper Killa Ace and co.

  • That, he allegedly met with the Justice Minister Baa Tambadou to discuss the pending criminal case.
  • That, shortly after his meeting with the Baa, the charges filed against the accused protesters were substituted to a bailable offense.
  • The previous offense brought against them was not bailable per Gambian laws.
  • That, Faye visited the mile two prison, where he met the detainees and assured them that their release on bail was in the making.

Faye has denied meeting Baa. He asked me to publish a correction of the commentary I made on air. I told him that I stand by my commentaries. I also asked him to send a rejoinder if he feels that what I said was erroneous. He never sends one.

Faye also told me that his visit to the mile two prison coincided with when IGP Mamout Jobe received information about the release of the 37 detainees.

SENSITIVE COMMUNICATION

During our chitchat, Faye mistakenly sent me a communication that was intended for another person. After reading the message, I asked him, if the message was meant for me, or whether was wrongly sent. He responded by saying that the message was meant for a cabinet colleague of his.

He asked me to delete the message. Faye says the message was meant for Bai Lamin Jobe, Works Minister. I had already taken snapshot of the message for my records.

“It was meant for my Koto Bai Lamin, but I have no regrets you seeing it. Kindly delete,” Faye remarked.

As journalists, we rely on information to perform our job. As the saying goes: “journalists are like fishermen. What do you expect if a fish mistakenly enters a fisherman’s fishing gears? That would be field day for the fisherman. The fisherman will not dump the fish into the water. He will take it.” I hope you understand where I am driving at.

Faye’s message interests me a lot in view of the following reasons. He earlier told me that he was in Saudi to hand over his previous office to his successor Ebrima Mballow, an in law of Adama Barrow.

His text message was sent to a cabinet colleague of his, whose job purview is not within the Foreign Ministry. His cabinet colleague was recently accused of corruption. His name is Bai Lamin Jobe, the Works Minister. Jobe’s office awarded the $35 million dollars Banjul road and sewage project to one Hadim Gai without any formal public tender.

Gai is an in law to the Alhagie Ousman Ceesay, the Chief of Protocol at the State House. Ceesay’s sister is married to Gai. Ceesay was recently indicted by the Janneh Commission for corruption. The commission recommended that he should be fired and banned from working in government. Adama Barrow rejected the Commission’s findings against Ceesay in his White Paper statement.

Faye’s message to Bai Lamin Jobe reads as follows: “ Please be informed that I spoke to Ambassador Salllah and we agreed that I sent a formal request through his office which I already did to ask for audience with the Defense Minister Crown Prince) with your advice, I can meet with anyone per your recommendation or wait for a formal response , where I can travel with my PS and Deputy PS if possible.”

Upon reading the above message of Faye, I began to believe that there is shadow mafia government in Banjul. Under normal circumstances, Faye should have channeled his request to meet with the Saudi Crown Prince MBS, through Foreign Minister Momodou Tangara, or Adama Barrow. But this was not the case. He has decided to channel it through his Banjul native brother Bai Lamin Jobe. Tangara was completely sidelined. His Ambassador Omar OG Sallah had approved Faye’s request without consulting with the Foreign Ministry—more importantly Foreign Minister Momodou Tangara.

Tangara’s relationship with Faye hasn’t been that cordial since their days as Diplomats in the United States, I was told. Faye was The Gambian Ambassador in DC, while Tangara, was head of The Gambian mission at the United Nations in New York.

It should be noted that the Banjul workers mafia are back in town. These were same elements, who misled former President Jawara and dictator Yahya Jammeh through their sheer greed and lack of love for country.

Ambassador Omar OG Sallah is a Banjul native. He was born and raised in Banjul. Omar Faye is a Banjul native. He was born and raised in Banjul. Bai Lamin Jobe is a Banjul native. He was born and raised in Banjul. Alhagie Ousman Ceesay is a Banjul native. He was born and raised in Banjul. Mamburay Njie too is a Banjul native. These are the folks working with Barrow to destroy our impoverished nation.

The million-dollar question is: Who is Bai Lamin Jobe to okay Faye’s request to meet with the Saudi Prince? Your guess is as good as mine Gambians.

MEETING A SAUDI KILLER?

The Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman was recently linked to the murder of the Washington Post reporter. Source: https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2019/09/30/one-year-later-our-murdered-friend-jamal-has-been-proved-right/?arc404=true The reported was killed at the Saudi Embassy in Turkey.

Almost all civilized and democratic governments around the globe had condemned the reporter’s murder. For Mr. Faye to use his handing over to meet with the Saudi Crown Prince, speaks volume.

Saudi Arabia is an economic diplomatic milking ground for poor nations like The Gambia. Over the years millions of dollars of Saudi aid meant for the poor West African nation had been stolen by our leaders.

Dictator Jammeh posted his in law OG Sallah to Saudi to pursue his thievery for him. Sallah’s daughter Alima Sallah was married to Jammeh.

Adama Barrow also maintained the same OG Sallah following the change of government back in December of 2016. Barrow has appointed his in law Ebrima Mballow to head the Jeddah Consulate. Connect the dots Gambia.

DEFENSE MINISTER, WHO IS NOT SECURITY MINDED

Defense Minister Omar Faye has proven to be not security minded. The wrong message he sent to me had proven my assertion. He should safeguard his communications in view of the sensitivity and importance of the position he had been bestowed to occupy. His communications should be channeled through secured government-controlled networks unless he wants to be my source. Just kidding.

On a more serious note, I deem it imperative to disclose this information to Gambians.

When exposing a corrupt regime, I don’t want any corrupt friends, opportunists, and ass-kissers around me. Anyone helping the rookie thief to destroy poor Gambia, will not be spared. Get the message. I take my job very seriously. We shall prevail over these bandits. I rest my case.

MAJOR FERRY DISASTER AWAITS TRAVELERS AT THE BANJUL/BARRA FERRY CROSSING POINTS; ALL FERRIES GROUNDED; ONLY ONE FERRY IS WORKING AND IS NOT IN GOOD CONDITION

Traveling by sea to the Northern part of The Gambia is not only risky, but frustrating, Freedom Newspaper can reveal. Almost all the ferries at the Banjul/Barra ferry crossing have been grounded due to safety related issues. There is only one ferry currently working; the rest are in bad condition. That ferry’s sea safety standards are questionable. It spends three hours on seas from Banjul to Barra. It would take that ferry six hours before it could transport passengers from both end in every given day. Passengers and vehicles have been stranded for weeks.

Those mostly affected by the ferry crisis are daily travelers, students, interstate truckers, visiting tourists, and others. Some had to use small boats to cross to Barra and Banjul.  Others would use the Banjul and Soma road to use travel via the Senegambia bridge.

Meanwhile, Adama Barrow, the country’s “dysfunctional leader”, is busy using Religious Leaders to help him perpetuate himself in power. He had given over one million dalasi to the Religious Leader to meet with Gambian villagers to convince them to support his five years mandate.

Barrow is under pressure from a group, which calls itself three years “Jotna.” The group plans to organize nationwide protest marches come December to compel him to step down from power. The group says Barrow doesn’t want to respect his promise to Gambians that he was going to stay in office for three years and step down.

The Gambia Ports Authority insiders have expressed concern over the safety of the only working ferry. They said their biggest fear is what they called a potential sea disaster in The Gambia if the ferry is not repaired.

GPA Ferry Services Manager Hali Gai and his management team are said to be busy working on a white elephant ferries repairing project. It has been gathered that D19 million dalasis has been earmarked for the ferries repairing project.

The Barrow regime has no plans of purchasing new ferries. The corrupt and inept regime would only respond to the ferry crisis, if only  there is a disaster. For now, Gambian travelers are hopeless, and panic stricken.

It was few weeks ago that the Freedom Newspaper published a story that the newly hired Social Security Housing and Finance Corporation (SSHFC) staffers were loaned brand-new vehicles by Gambia’s only pensioners agency without successfully finishing their six months employment probation. In the said publication, we also published a vehicle that was loaned to Mama Linguere Sarr. SSHFC insiders said our exposure of Ms. Sarr’s car doesn’t go down well with the new hire. She reportedly told management that she wasn’t comfortable driving car since it had published online. She was allocated another new car, according to insiders.

THE PREVIOUS CAR THAT WAS LOANED TO MAMA

One of the insiders said he couldn’t understand why MD Muhammed Manjang would okay such a request. The insider decided to secretly photograph the new car given to Mama. “Here is the new car they allocated to her. That’s the picture. Let them allocate her another car,” he remarked.

Mama Sarr is a Director at the SSHFC. She was recently hired to work at the Corporation. She used to live in Sweden prior to her home return.

MD Manjang has recently employed some of the people who defended him online during his debacle with the SSHFC staffers.

THERE IS A CAR LOAN SCANDAL AT THE SSHFC-INSIDERS CLAIMED; AS MD MANJANG APPROVES THOUSANDS OF DALASIS CAR LOAN FOR NEWLY HIRED STAFF-MAMA SARR AND CO

September 23, 2019

Inside Gambia’s Social Security, Housing and Finance Corporation (SSHFC), there is an outcry among some disgruntled staff, who have accused the pensioners agency Managing Director Muhammed Manjang of allocating car loans to newly hired staff without allegedly following the company’s employment probation period procedures, Freedom Newspaper has been reliably informed. Some of the staff, who whose loan applications were approved were allocated close to one millihundred thousand dalasis. The staff had served less than two months into their employment with the SSFC. Among them was was Mamalinguere Sarr, the newly hired Admin Director. Ms. Sarr was given a car loan of D970,000 dalasis.  Mama’s assistant one Ynakuba Manneh was allocated a car loan in the sum of D825.000 dalasis. Public Relations Director Fakuba Njie  was also allocate a car loan of D960,000 dalasis.

Under SSHFC rules, newly hired staff are required to finish their probationary hiring period of six months before they could be confirmed for employment, according to some long serving staffers of the parastatal. Yankuba had been hired less than three weeks ago, and he has been approved for car loan, one insider said.

One of the staff went as far as taking picture of Mama’s newly loaned car. “Here is Mama’s new car,” one insider claimed.

It is not clear if the SSHFC Board had approved the said loans.

Under the loan arraignment, the  company will pay fifty percent (50%) of the loan, while the newly hired staff are required to pay the remaining fifty percent (50%) of the loan, according to one insider familiar with the story.

Paul Correa is the Chairperson of the SSHFC Loan Committee. He and Manjang had played a vital role in ensuring that the loan applications for the new hires were approved, another insider remarked.

MD Manjang could not be reached for comment.

I OWN THE GAP PARTY AND NOT DR. NJOGU BAH-BATCHILLY CLARIFIES; AS HE ACCUSES HIS DETRACTORS OF SMEAR CAMPAIGN

The Secretary General of The Gambia Action Party (GAP) Musa Yali Batchilly has debunked reports suggesting that the former Secretary General and Presidential Affairs Minister Dr. Njogu Bah, owns the newly formed GAP political party. “I own over eighty percent of GAP. The remaining share is owned by a close friend of mine. I cannot reveal his name. He doesn’t want to be named. Njogu Bah, hasn’t spent a butut in the registration of the GAP party,” Batchilly told Freedom Newspaper in a phone conversation on Tuesday.

Batchilly’s GAP party recently named General Lamin Bojang, as the party’s flag bearer in the 2021 elections. Bojang is a former Army Officer. He is the Deputy Ambassador at The Gambian Embassy in Russia.

According to Batchilly, when he and others conceived the idea of setting up a political party, Dr. Njogu Bah, was among the six or seven people, who signed a paperwork to the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) to register the party. He says almost all the folks, who signed that paperwork had left the party now.

“The party is being managed by me and few others. Ousman Sowe and co have since left. Sowe and I used to be with the GDC party. If anyone tells you that Dr. Njogu Bah owns the GAP party is a lie. I financed over eighty percent of the GAP registration,” he remarked.

Batchilly says he is of the belief that his party is being targeted for smear campaign by folks, who are afraid of its increasing popularity. He adds that GAP’s focus is to win the next elections and run a democratic and transparent Gambia.

“Njogu Bah’s contribution to the party was during its registration with the IEC. He was the one, who helped us to gather signatures from the North Bank Region. He also contributed D5,000 dalasis during the scribbling of our party’s constitution. We were charged by a D20,000 dalasi by a Gambian for him to write a constitution for us. Out of that D20,000 dalasis, I contributed D15,000 dalasis, while Njogu Bah paid the D5,000 dalasis,” Batchilly remarked.

“The person we paid to write a constitution for us, did not do a good job. We had to let him go and hire another person. I was the one, who paid the second guy, who helped to write the constitution for us,” he added.

Batchilly is the Secretary General of the GAP Party. He said one of the reasons, why they didn’t select Njogu Bah, as the party’s flag bearer or leader, was due to Bah’s pending appearance before the Janneh Commission. Bah was recently indicted by the Commission for corruption and abuse office. He was among the former Jammeh government official banned from holding public office for the rest of their lives. Bah was also ordered to pay restitution to the state; failure of which, he risked having his assets seized by the state.

Commenting on his party’s recent selection of General Lamin Bojang, as its flag bearer in the upcoming Presidential polls, Batchilly said the decision was unanimously welcomed by the party’s leadership. He said Bojang had met all the requirements to represent the party in the coming elections.

“Lamin Bojang is a perfect gentleman. I know him. I sincerely believe that he is going to deliver the party and The Gambia to the promised land. His selection was approved virtually by all my colleagues at the party. The GAP party has not been sold. That’s a lie. Lamin was selected through a democratic process,” he said.

GAMBIAN ARMY TRAINS NEW RECRUITS IN PREPARATION OF QUELLING DECEMBER PROTEST MARCH

Close to three hundred newly recruited soldiers are currently being trained in preparation for the quelling of the much-anticipated December protest march to be organized by a group calling itself “three years Jotna.” Three years Jotnna is a Wollof dialect. It means “it is time for the three years.” The group intends to compel Adama Barrow to step down from power come December through a peaceful protest march.

It would be recalled that Adama Barrow had promised Gambians that he was going to preside over a three-year transition rule after which he (Barrow) was not going to run for office post transition era.

Barrow has since walked away from his promise. He says he wants to finish his five-year mandate as required by the constitution. He also claimed that three years was too short for him to deliver his campaign promises of national development to Gambians. Barrow has since started consolidating himself to power—given the formation of this Youth Movement and fans club.

Speaking to Freedom Radio Gambia’s prime time Civic Education show, Alhagie Cham Joof, a proclaimed supporter of the three years Jotna Movement said he had been reliably informed by his former colleagues in The Gambian army about Barrow’s plans to suppress the December protest march. Cham, widely known as “Sir Jackal.” says no amount of soldier’s intervention can stop them from asking Barrow to step down come December.

“Barrow’s plan is to use the newly hired soldiers to harm peaceful protesters. The game plan is to give police intervention unit officers uniforms to the new soldiers to quell the protest. I am calling on my brother IGP Mamut Jobe to be careful. He shouldn’t allow Barrow to use him to perpetuate himself to power,” Cham said.

“Adama Barrow is a failed leader. Even dictator Yahya Jammeh’s spits are better than him. He has betrayed the wishes and aspirations of The Gambian people. We are going to ask him to leave office come December. No one can stop us from organizing a peaceful protest. By this note, I am asking my friend Ebrima G Sankareh, the government spokesman, to consider resigning before the protest date. I do not want him to be this corrupt and irresponsible government. Barrow’s era is about to end. The army commander Mamat Cham should also avoid being used,” he added.

Abdoulie Sanyang, also a former soldier said some new soldiers are being trained ahead of the December protest march. Sanyang added that he is in support of the protest march.

“Adama Barrow is a disgrace to Gambians. He hasn’t performed any of the issues he promised to us. We want him to go,” Sanyang remarked.

A former Gambian soldier living in the US said one of his cousins was among the recruits being trained. He said Cham’s claims are accurate.

Manneh, who works as a consultancy works for Green Gambia, expressed shock about the shipwreck that has plunged the entire community into deep sadness.
“What I can tell you is that boat owners don’t provide life jackets for their clients. Government should take urgent action to ensure that safety jackets are used,” he added.
Similar sentiments were echoed by Gunjur Youth Movement leader Sulayman Bojang who called on boat owners to put the safety of commuters at the centre stage of their activities.

EDU SINHATEH IS HOSTED BY HIS IN LAW BADARA MBYE OF AFRICELL, UNDER STATE MONITORING; EDU’S SEIZED DIPLOMATIC PASSPORT RETURNED!

New details have started emerging following the arrival of Edward Singhateh into the country. Singhateh, who is the former junta Vice Chairman, landed at the airport over the weekend with the Nigerian airline called Air peace. He entered the country with a Diplomatic Passport. Airport security officers on duty had a word with him during his processing. No information had reached the officers on duty about his sudden home return. The officers were surprised upon seeing Edu at the airport.

Edu was asked if he could testify at the TRRC via Skype or to come in person in The Gambia. He decided to come home and face the TRRC.

His processing was delayed due to lack of clearance to let him into the country.Airport security workers on duty said they had no clearance to let Edu in. Phone calls were made to top security chiefs to seek their permission before letting Edu in.

TRRC’s Lead Counsel Essa Faal had to ask the officers to clear Edu and allow him to proceed with his journey, sources revealed.  Edu was later allowed to proceed in town. His Diplomatic Passport was taken away from him. It was seized.

It was few days ago that some Immigration officers handed Edu’s passport to one of his relatives. Edu picked up his passport  from his relative yesterday. He was on board a nice Range Rover.

Singhateh was accorded state protective services but he declined it. Notwithstanding, The Gambian state is on his tale. He is currently being monitored and protected by state security agents. Singhateh’s safety is an utmost concern to the government, a source told the Freedom Newspaper.

Singhateh is being hosted by his in law Badara Mbye, the Managing Director of Africell. Mbye is married to Singhateh’s sister Aminata Singhateh. Mr. Mbye’s driver took him to one of his relatives yesterday morning to pick up his Diplomatic Passport.

Edu Singhateh is determined to relate his story before the TRRC. He has been accused of killing Ousman Koro Ceesay, the former Finance Minister. He has also been linked with killing Sadibou Hydara, the former Junta Interior Minister. His name also came up in the mass execution of the about dozen November 11 alleged coupists.

In the meantime, Singhateh felt that a betrayal locally known as “Jangfa” has been hatched against him. He wasn’t happy when security officers held him at the airport. He phoned one of his relatives, decrying the way he was treated at the airport. His relative never came to his rescue that night. He met Edu, the following the day.

Edu is not sure if he would be allowed to return to Nigeria after his TRRC testimony. His family is concerned about what the future holds for him. Local charities have been taken out so that he wouldn’t be sent to jail during his home return.

SECURITY FORCES WILL NOT BE USED AGAIN FOR POLITICAL INTEREST-DECLARES A TOP SECURITY CHIEF; AS BARROW’S GOV’T TRAINS THEM ON CROWD CONTROLLING!

As Adama Barrow is putting up the needed contingency plans to abort the much talked about December protest march, soldiers, policemen, prison wardens and other members of the security agencies currently being trained said they will not use force to quell protesters if there should be any protest march come December. They said, they do not want to be dragged into another TRRC post Barrow era. Hundreds of security officers are currently being trained ahead of the “three years” jotna planned protest march. They were being initially trained at the police intervention unit headquarters in Kanifing, but they have been moved to a military barracks.

Barrow had reneged from his promise of running a three years transition period. He claimed that he needed time to finish the projects he had started. Though, his critics said Barrow hasn’t achieved any meaning developmental project since assuming the presidency. Barrow has been accused of presiding over an endemic corrupt government. A charge he denies.

A top Gambian security chief told this medium that his colleagues have learned from the past Jammeh era. He added that the days of a commander-in-chief using security agents for his own political interest are over.

Barrow’s predecessor dictator Yahya Jammeh had used members of the security forces to torture, and kill his perceived political opponents during his twenty two years rule. Jammeh’s past rights abuses is currently being investigated by the Truth, Reconciliation and Reparations Commission (TRRC).

“He can arm us, but that doesn’t mean that we are going to open fire at our brothers and sisters. The current batch being trained by our men and the Germans will not shoot at anyone. I can assure you that. This country is at crossroads. We the security forces will not allow to be used again,” said one top security chief, who wished not to be named for fear of possible reprisal.

“Based on what we are hearing, the protesters are planning to march from the KMC to the State House in Banjul. We hope the protest would be peaceful. This country cannot afford instability. The rule of law should be respected. We need peace in this country,” the officer added.

The security chief said he doesn’t think that Barrow is competent enough to rule The Gambia. He said The Gambia has reached to the level of a social breakdown—given what he calls the regime’s lack of commitment to tackle corruption and punish its perpetrators. He says combating corruption is not part of Barrow’s agenda. He added that poor Gambians are paying for the regime’s ineptness as there is hunger and hopelessness in the country.

“Instead of fulfilling his transitional agenda, Barrow is busy consolidating himself in power. The security forces that he wanted to use are victims of his misrule. We are suffering. He is out of touch when it comes to the plight of the security forces,” he remarked.

The former junta Vice Chairman Edward David Singhateh has been scheduled to appear before Gambia’s Truth, Reconciliation and Reparations Commission (TRRC) today at 10:00 AM GMT. Singhateh’s pending testimony will attract viewers within and outside the country. This was the guy, named in the murder of the former Finance Minister Ousman Koro Ceesay. Ceesay was murdered in June of 1995. His remains were found in his burnt official car in the outskirt of Jambour. Ceesay was seeing off dictator Jammeh to the airport, where he was allegedly lured to the home of Yankuba Touray, a former junta council member and Local government Minister, and subsequently killed.

Singhateh’s testimony will help to bring closure in the murder case of Koro Ceesay, the murder of the about dozen army officers, who were accused of coup plot back in November of 1994, the killing of Sadibou Hydara, the former junta Interior Minister, among others, provided that he decides to make  confession in the aforementioned crimes he had been accused of.

It was back in 1996 that Singhateh was appointed Trade Minister by dictator Jammeh. The then junta had claimed at the material time to have won the controversial 1996 elections. He retired from the army to accept political appointment in Jammeh’s newly elected government. Isatou Njie Saidy was appointed Vice President.

While at the Trade Ministry, Singhateh began to feel being alienated by Jammeh. He immediately started losing grip of the country, he onetime headed as Vice Chairman.

Singhateh has also been accused of having hands in the strained relationship between the late Baba Kajali Jobe and Yahya Jammeh. As Trade Minister, he was working with the police headed by Landing 13 Badjie and Yahya Jammeh to have Jobe legally nailed on trumped embezzlement charges. Jobe was accused of embezzling rice belonging to  the Youth Development Enterprise (YDE) among others.

Singhateh was subsequently fired from Jammeh’s government during a cabinet reshuffle. He later enrolled at the University of The Gambia to study law. He is a lawyer by profession.

Singhateh’s mum is an Irish citizen. His late Dad is a Gambian, who hailed from the Basse area. He was born in the United Kingdom. His junior brother Peter Singhateh had also been implicated in the murder of Koro Ceesay.

Singhateh’s parents later resettled into The Gambia, where he and his siblings were raised. He grew up from a poor home. They were living in an incomplete house in the Fajaras.

Upon finishing High School, both Edward and his brother Peter Singhateh enrolled into the then Gambian National Army. They were commissioned as officers. Singhateh was among the main planners of the July 22nd 1994 military takeover, which toppled President Jawara’s thirty years rule.
