How Long Will It Take Mrs. Bensouda To Bring Yaya Jammeh To Face Charges Of Crimes Against Humanity At The ICC In The Hague? The Truth Have Been Revealed And The Evidences Are Overwhelming.

Mrs. Fatou Bensouda at the inauguration of the TRRC- October 2018

The Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC), Gambian-born Mrs. Fatou Bum Bensouda, who once faithfully served as director of prosecution and Minister of Justice during the first six years of dictatorial rule in the Gambia, was accused of defending the actions of Yaya Jammeh by two victims who were tortured and wrongfully detained under Jammeh’s regime. They implicated Mrs.Bensouda in their sworn statements at the TRRC for the ordeal they went through under Yaya Jammeh.

The testimonies of Batch Samba Jallow and Sainey Faye before the TRRC, plus the startling revelations this week by three members of Jammeh’s killing squad who confessed to carrying out or participating in more than 50 killings on orders from Jammeh, warrant sufficient gravity to justify the attention of the International Criminal Court.

It is undeniable that the revelations made thus far by those in the killer squad for Jammeh including strangulation, butchering and point-blank range shooting of innocent victims then using abandoned wells as grave for those murdered, make a good case to prosecute Jammeh for crimes against humanity at the ICC.

Although, many African presidents see the court as an instrument of Western colonialism, a viewpoint summed up by the Gambia’s then Information Minister during the reign of Jammeh, Sheriff  Bojang (Snr.), who reportedly described the ICC “an international Caucasian court for the persecution and humiliation of people of colour, especially Africans”; the growing disaffection with the ICC in Africa has more to do with the moral rectitude of the prosecutor weakened by her failure to criticize the dictatorship she had previously served.

During her interview with journalist Tim Sebastian in January 2016, Mrs. Bensouda was pressured to denounce human rights violations in the country, she replied “ I am not going to make statements on political issues that are happening in countries.” When reminded by the journalist that what Jammeh was doing in the country was torture, killings and abuse of people’s rights; she replied “ is it crimes that fall within my jurisdiction?” It is because of her reluctance to condemn the various atrocities committed by her former boss that many Gambians found it particularly inappropriate to inaugurate the TRRC.

Alternatively, a special tribunal could be set up, located in another country to give it a semblance of independence, where all the crimes committed by Jammeh including the summary killings of 50 Ghanaians migrants whose only crime was to stray into the Gambian waters on their way to Europe and the murders of Saul Ndow, Mahawa Cham, and the two Gambian-American citizens who were killed in Kanilai and their bodies were butchered into pieces like meat under the orders of Yaya Jammeh.

It is a fact that 3 of the members of the TRRC legal team have either worked with or under Mrs. Bensouda and many are now casting doubt whether the ICC prosecutor will ever be invited to answer charges made by Batch Samba Jallow and Sainey Faye at the TRRC. In her statement during the inauguration of the TRRC, Mrs. Bensouda said and I paraphrase “”In order for the country to move forwards to greater heights, it must reckon with its past. It must engage in a good faith effort to uncover past wrongs. It must identify and hold those accountable, provide the answers and indeed the recognition and justice that victims and affected communities so deeply earned for and desired.” And she concluded firmly: “Accountability begins at home.”

The serious human rights violations committed under the regime of Yaya Jammeh between July 1994 and January 2017 which included systematic torture, illegal detentions under inhuman conditions, extrajudicial killings in the most horrendous form and the use of force to extract confessions, no doubt fit the definition of crimes against humanity. There is a crucial need to focus on the interest of the victims and their families who are at the center of the TRRC process. Peace and reconciliation can only be achieved if their justice. The justice conundrum at TRRC is worsened by the reluctance and silence of the ICC prosecutor to hold Yaya Jammeh accountable.

Once served under a regime in which the judicial system was marked by multiple and serious violations of the law, the systematic practice of torture, the fabrication of evidence, illegal detentions, enforced disappearances and deaths in custody, this is an opportune moment for Mrs. Fatou Bum Bensouda to show the whole world her drive for equity and true justice in the execution of her job as the ICC Chief Prosecutor. The ball is now in her court!

UDP PRESS RELEASE ON THE DEATH OF OUSMAN DARBOE, SUBSEQUENT VIOLENT PROTESTS

$

0

The leadership of the United Democratic Party (UDP) has learnt with great distress and indignation, the death of Ousman Darboe, a Serrekunda Market Vendor, following his detention and eventual release from police custody.

The UDP extends its sincere condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of the late Mr. Darboe. The UDP urgently calls on the Minister of Interior to ensure that a speedy investigation into events surrounding the death of Mr. Darboe is conducted.

Findings of this investigation should be made public.  Should, as the Serrekunda youth claim, the cause of death be related to his arrest, the UDP expects those found wanting to be brought to justice.

Unfortunately, Mr. Darboe’s death led to violent protests, looting and an arson attack on offices of the anti-crime unit and the home of its Unit head, Mr. Mboob.  The UDP condemns such violent acts.  The Party also commiserates with Mr. Mboob and all other victims of such violence.

As a law abiding Party founded on the principles of the promotion of peace, the UDP recognizes the basic Constitutional rights of Gambians to Freedom of Assembly and Freedom of Expression.  However, the UDP encourages Gambians, particularly youths who wish to assemble and to protest to respect the Constitution, the laws of The Gambia and to demonstrate respect for the authorities.

The UDP condemns the excessive use of force and calls on the Inspector General of Police, the Minister of Interior and the National Security Council to ensure that the Police Intervention Unit and Crowd Control teams undergo the necessary skills training to control public gatherings and to ensure order with minimal violence.

On a separate issue, the UDP also condemns the violence with which the Police dealt with peaceful protesters of the Occupy BAC, which also unfortunately led to violent scenes in Brikama on Wednesday 24 July.

The UDP acknowledges that the Inspector General of Police (IGP) has the discretion to issue permits.   However. UDP encourages the IGP to work towards concrete efforts to widen the space for assembly and for expression as spelt out in the 1997 Constitution of the Republic of The Gambia.  Further, the IGP where he cannot issue permits should specify to the requestors why, at that specified period and location, Gambians who wish to express themselves cannot be allowed to do so.

The UDP understands that such anger as demonstrated by Gambian youth this week is not and cannot only be interpreted to be related to the death of Ousman Darboe and Occupy BAC.  Rather, it is our view that these actions are linked to the general frustrations of the youth on a host of issues including but not limited to Police violence.

Gambian youths are disillusioned that after having endured and dislodged a 22 year dictatorship, very little has changed in terms of democratic norms.  Corruption and cronyism continue to affect service delivery across the board; unemployment is still high while the environment adversely affects job creation initiatives.

The UDP calls on the Government of The Gambia to not only create the enabling environment for Gambians to publicly speak out on issues of concern to them but to also act on improving on the situations that lead to those concerns.

The UDP seizes this opportunity to call on the Party’s youth in particular, Party sympathizers and the Gambian people to desist from any form of violence as a form of expression.

The Secretary General and the Executive Committee of the UDP thank all Gambians and reiterate our calls for calm, restraint and non-violence.

One of The Gambian soldiers named in the murder of the two Gambian American citizens, Alhagie Mamut Ceeay and Ebou Jobe, is said to be living in the United States. His name is former Army Lieutenant Michael Correa. Correa was among Jammeh’s hit squad—the jungullars, who murdered the two Gambian American nationals, per revelations coming from the TRRC.

A source who reached us today said Mr. Correa had decided not to return to The Gambia, during a visit to the United States with Gambia’s former Vice President Isatou Njie Saidy. Correa was among the bodyguards attached Ms. Saidy. He accompanied the former VP to attend a UN meeting in New York, but he has since refused to return to The Gambia. He overstayed his visa.

Our source said he is not sure as to which State Mr. Correa is residing, but he intimated that Correa is using the US as a save heaven to evade prosecution in The Gambia. Mr. Correa has been declared wanted by the Barrow government for murder and other heinous offences.

Both soldier Omar A Jallow and Amadou Badjie have confirmed taking part in the murder of Ceesay and Jobe. Jallow and Badjie said they were ordered by dictator Yahya Jammeh to kill the two Gambian Americans. they also mentioned the other soldiers who participated in the murder of Ceesay and Jobe. Micheal Correa’s name featured prominently in Jallow and Badjie’s testimonies as among the soldiers, who killed the two Americans.

This followed allegations that  Ceesay and Jobe were plotting to overthrow Jammeh’s regime. The men were briefly held by the jungullars, before they were escorted to Kanilai to meet with Jammeh. Jammeh personally requested to see Ceesay and Jobe, before ordering for their execution, Jallow and Badjie told the TRRC.

In a statement issued, the United States Embassy in Banjul said: ” We will pursue a close partnership with Gambian authorities based on these new revelations to continue to investigate the disappearance of these American citizens.”

“The United States Government expresses our heartfelt condolences to the familiesof Alhaji M. Ceesay, Ebrima Jobe, and of all other victims of crimes that are being revealed by the continued work of the Truth, Reconciliation and Reparation Commission.  We express our gratitude to the TRRC for undertaking this important work for accountability, justice, and national reconciliation,” the statement concluded.

BREAKING NEWS-JAMMEH ORDERED FOR THE MURDER OF A BRITISH NATIONAL, SUSPECTED OF BEING A SPY, IN THE LATE NINETIES-HIGHLY PLACED SOURCES HAVE UNVEILED!

A white Caucasian, believed to be a British citizen, and was suspected of being a spy, was murdered along the riverside in Kalagi, in the late nineties by dictator Jammeh’s agents, Freedom Newspaper can reveal. Kalagi is located in the West Coast Region of The Gambia. Kalagi is about 133 kilometers away from the capital city Banjul.

The British national was taken into custody by the defunct National Intelligence Agency—NIA. He was suspected of being a spy.

The story goes like this: It was in the late nineties, when police officers at the Kalagi police station heard gunshots coming from the riverside in Kalagi. This was 3:00 am in the morning. Officers visited the location where the shots were heard. Among the police officers, who visited the scene was one Modou Gaye. Gaye is a native of Nuimi. He now lives in the United States.

On arrival at the riverside in Kalagi, officer Gaye, met a team of NIA officers led by Landing 13 Badjie, AKA 13 Badjie. There was a double cabin truck parked on site, source said. Gaye and his men conducted an areal surveillance of the scene before returning to the police station in Kalagi.

Officer Gaye and his men, upon their return to the Kalagi station,  they reported their findings on the station diary. Besides the gunshots and the encounter, they had with Badjie and his colleagues, there was nothing unusual they discovered, sources said.

13 Badjie was impressed with Gaye’s level of vigilance, sources said. He even recommended for his promotion. Gaye was promoted, said our source.

A day or so, after Gaye and co had visited the Kalagi riverside, where they heard sounds of gunshots, a dead body was found at the Brumen bridge in Kalagi. The bridge is located just outside the Kalagi police station. It is on the road to Soma.

The Kalagi police visited the scene and recovered the body. A white male was found dead. He was dressed in a jean and jacket. Gunshots were visible on his body. His eyes were also decapitated. Perhaps the fish in the sea must have eaten his eyes.

The current Inspector General of police Mamout Jobe, was the station officer at Kalagi at the material time. Known for his professionalism and attention to detail, Jobe, wasted no time in informing his immediate boss, Police Superintendent Jai Sowe, who was the Commanding officer (OC) in charge of the Sibnanor region.  Jobe then briefed Sowe about a dead body his men recovered at the Brumen bridge in Kalagi.

Mr. Jobe did not stop at contacting Jai Sowe, he also ensured that some Chinese nationals, who were engaged in construction work at the Kalagi primary school, were accounted for. No missing person was reported by the Chines on site.

Former Sibanor OC Jai Sowe, visited the Kalagi police station, where he found the body. Sowe personally escorted the body to the mortuary at the then Royal Victoria Hospital—now renamed as the Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital. Sowe had wanted doctors at the RVH to perform a post-mortem on the body of the British national, to establish his cause of death, but the body, was later snatched from the mortuary and taken away, according to sources. He was buried at an undisclosed location without pathologists probing into his cause of death.

Jai Sowe was the OC for Sibanor between the year 1994 to the year 2000. He is a former member of the defunct National Gendarmerie.

When contacted for comment, Sowe said: “I can confirm to you that my former station officer in Kalagi, Mamout Jobe, did report to me, in the late nineties about a dead body that was recovered at the Brumen bridge by his officers. He was a white male. He was believed to be a British citizen. My officers reported to me that the body was discovered, a day after gunshots were heard along the riverside in Kalagi. When they visited the scene of the shooting, they met Landing Badjie, alias 13 Badjie and some NIA officers. 13 Badjie was then an officer with the NIA. The police acted in accordance with the dictates of the law by documenting what they observed at the time. I personally escorted the body to the RVH for post-mortem, but to my surprise, the body was snatched from the mortuary. I do not know where they took the body.”

“I later came to find out that the British national was arrested by the NIA on suspicion of him being a spy. I want to believe that he was murdered based on the NIA’s perception that he was a spy,” Sowe, who later rose to the rank of Police Crime Management Coordinator (CMC) and Deputy Inspector General of police tells Freedom Newspaper.

Sowe says the last time he checked; a case of missing person was never reported to the police. The matter was never brought to the attention of any Western embassy accredited to The Gambia. It was also never reported by the local press, he said.

Mr. Mamout Jobe could not be reached for his own side of the story at the time of scribbling this report. The same thing applies to Landing 13 Badjie.

Badjie works with the United Nations. He joined the UN in 2005.

He was moved from the NIA to the police, where he rose to the rank of Inspector General of police, before he was fired by dictator Jammeh.

Gambia’s anti-narcotic officers today seized drugs (cocaine) said to be addressed to Laura’s Food Company Limited, Freedom Newspaper can reveal. Laura’s Food Company is a Lebanese company registered in The Gambia. Its owners are Lebanese nationals, according to sources familiar with the story.

The Company had offices in Picton Street Banjul and Latri-Kunda Sabaji, along the Brikama Highway. It was registered during dictator Yahya Jammeh’s rule.

The company claimed that it is engaged in sugar, meat, fish cereal, among other business activities. It orders some of its goods from Mexico.

I read your piece in regards to the alleged British national, who was said to have been murdered in the late nineties on the suspicion that he was a Western spy. I want to share some information with your readers about what was privy to me at the material time.

When 13 Badjie and co arrived in Kalagi on the day in question, they borrowed a handgun from the District Chief Kutubo. Kutubo is still the District Chief. Perhaps, if contacted, he can shed light on the story.

The murdered white man was buried at the Kalagi graveyard. He had an engagement ring with him at the time. I used to see 13 Badjie wearing the said engagement ring.

Yahya Jammeh was opposed to any post-mortem to be conducted on the murdered westerner. Dr. Mariatou Jallow was the head of the RVH hospital at the time.

The former Inspector General of police Yankuba Sonko was handling the case file at the time. He was not an IGP at the time.

I was told that the murdered westerner was an American national. He was in The Gambia to investigate Mobutu’s wealth concealed in The Gambia. I am not sure whether he was an FBI agent or not.

Mamout Jobe, the current IGP, was the Station Officer in charge of Kalagi, while Jai Sowe was the OC in charge of the Sibanor region. Officer Modou Gaye, now residing in the United States, was privy to the details of the case as well.

BREAKING NEWS-THE LAURA’S FOOD COMPANY, WHICH WAS BUSTED WITH COCAINE CONSIGNMENT, HAS TIES WITH HUSSEIN TAJIDEEN; A LEBANESE MAN, INDICTED BY THE US GOV’T FOR FINANCING TERRORISM!

New details have emerged in regards to the Laura’s Food Company, which was busted with a cocaine consignment shipment by Gambia’s anti-drug agents, FREEDOM NEWSPAPER CAN REVEAL. The company is not a Libyan company, as inadvertently reported by this medium. It is a Lebanese company.

Laura’s Food Company has ties with Hussein Tajideen, who was recently designated as a terrorist financier and supporter. The company came into being, following the US’s decision to ban all companies associated with Mr. Tajideen and his associates.

Investigators are currently investigating as to whether Tajideen and his staff are using Laura’s to evade the US government’s Treasury Department sanctions.

The Lebanese man heading Laura’s food office is one Madi. The Laura’s company has been closed since on Monday. His elder brother is away from the country. He is not in The Gambia at this hour.

Laura’s company had been registered with Gambia’s Justice Ministry through the unit called Directorate of Companies. We are currently investigating the shareholders of the company. We will keep you posted with developments.

Some of the Lebanese nationals associated with the company occasionally claimed Gambian dual citizenship. It is not clear if the Laura’s staff have been issued Gambian passports under Jammeh’s rule.

STATE HOUSE INSIDER EXPOSES WHAT HE CALLS PRESIDENT BARROW’S “USELESS FOREIGN TRIPS”; ALLEGES THAT CORRUPTION AND FAVORITISM MARRED PRESIDENT BARROW’S FOREIGN TRIPS!

Corruption and Favoritism marred President Barrow’s Foreign Trips

Since his inauguration in 2017, President Barrow had made about 24 foreign trips. Some of these foreign trips are not important or relevant to the Gambian people but only to enrich themselves with the hefty night allowances at the expense of the Gambian People. So many people are included in these trips only to earn the night allowance, because their going do not add any value to the trip or are engaged into any meaning activity to produce result.

The Director of Press at State house, Amie Bojang Sissoho is the chief architect of this corrupt and nepotistic behavior.  She wants to travel with the President in every trip even though her going is not necessary. Sometimes she travels with her assistant in the same trip only to grab night allowance. It is like a competition for self-enrichment, no one wants to stay in the office to do work.

The most disheartening of all her deeds is the nepotistic and favoritism preference of Saul Touray over everyone else. Saul Touray is the personal photographer to the president and a relative of Amie Bojang Sissoho. Amie will always ensure that Saul Touray travels with the President’s Advance team few days before the actual departure of the president to increase his number of nights for a hefty allowance. It is not uncommon for a president to have a personal photographer, but a personal photographer to travel earlier than the president cannot be understood to be anything than self-enrichment, greedy pursuit and exploitation of the tax-payers money. If the Director of press is behaving like this in statehouse, what is statehouse doing to address the plight and welfare of the citizens.

It is crystal clear that, Night allowance is pegged at £200(Pounds) and the President’s visit takes at least 3 days while the advance team departs 2 Days before the president’s schedule gives us a sum of 5 days multiply by£200(Pounds)  gives a result of a £1000(Pounds). When a Thousand Pounds is accrued by a person travelling with the president for a single trip, then £24000 (Pounds) has been accrued by a person who had traveled 24 times with the President. The current exchange rates (62.46) multiply by 24000 results to D1, 499,040 at the expense of the tax- payers. If a Personal Photographer can be given this amount of money that is not his salary, what of those in senior Positions. It is high time that we stand to better our country than to enrich a few at the expense of the hard works and pains of those who elected the president.

BREAKING NEWS-FORMER JAMMEH ENABLER SECURES 100 BEDS FOR THE FABB FOUNDATION; AS OUSMAN BADJIE WANTS FIRST LADY AND TANGARA TO HELP HIM REPLACE THE RECALLED AMBASSADOR SEDAT JOBE IN FRANCE!

$

Former Jammeh enablers are using their past connections to secure financial and material aid from local and western organizations for the First Lady’s Foundation—the Fatoumatta Bah Barrow Foundation in order to be absorbed by the Barrow status quo, highly placed sources have intimated. The one hundred (100) electric beds the FABB Foundation reportedly donated to the Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital (EFSTH) was facilitated by Ousman Badjie, the former Gambian Ambassador to France. Badjie was fired from the Foreign Service and later charged with economic crime back in 2016, before the fall of dictator Jammeh. A High Court in Banjul acquitted and discharged him, but notwithstanding, the Jammeh dictatorship was determined to appeal the judgment of Justice Eunice O. Dada of the Banjul High Court.

In a publication dated October 23rd, 2016, the Foroyaa Newspaper quoted Justice Dada, as having ruled that “after reading the particulars of offence, said the question is whether Ousman Badjie intentionally commits the offence which causes economic loss to the Gambia Government. She said the prosecution called three witnesses and it is clear that the duty of the head of the mission is the overall responsibility of the mission.”

She noted that the witnesses did not show any responsibility of the accused attached to the revenue that cause economic loss to the Government of the Gambia. She said the question is whether the prosecution witnesses and the documents tendered in court by the prosecution are sufficient enough to warrant conviction. She said it is clear that he (Ousman Badjie) is presumed to be wrongly charged and proving the alleged charge lies on the prosecution.

Justice Dada said she is of the view that from the evidence in this court the accused person did not commit the crime. She said the accused before the court is not Mrs. Adele Sock and it is not denied that a fraud is committed in the Gambian Embassy in France.  She said no evidence is shown that Mrs. Sock has been charged or even brought to court as a witness.

“I am of the view that the Prosecution did not prove the case as required by the law. I see it as holding the accused liable for the offence committed by his subordinate. The accused is not found guilty of the five counts and he is accordingly acquitted and discharged,” said Justice Dada.

In a statement issued by the FABB Foundation shortly after the presentation of the beds to the hospital, the organization said: “A special thank you goes to Association EGALISE from France, Africell Gambia Ltd ,Hon. Minister of Foreign affairs Dr Momodou Tangara, and all those who took the effort in facilitating this huge donation for our Health sector.”

Former Gambian Ambassador to France Ousman Badjie, was present during the presentation of the beds. His name was never mention by the First Lady. Badjie’s longtime friend Momodou Tangara, the current Gambian Foreign Minister, was praised by the First Lady for his efforts in facilitating the huge donation.

Tangara was Badjie’s boss during dictator Jammeh’s rule. He was Foreign Minister, while Badjie was Ambassador in France. Both Badjie and Tangara attended French education in neighboring Senegal, and France.

A highly placed source close to the administration said Ousman Badjie is using Tangara and the First Lady Fatoumatta Bah Barrow to bounce back in the system. The First Lady virtually runs the State House. She occasionally recommends appointment of individuals to the government to her husband Adama Barrow. Her Foundation has been named in the past for alleged malpractices among others.

There is a vacant Ambassadorial position in France. Dr. Momodou Lamin Sedat Jobe, who is currently sick, has been recalled by President Barrow. Badjie might likely be appointed to replace Jobe. Watch the space.

It should be noted that Ousman Badjie was the Interior Minister of The Gambia, when some armed trigger Gambian security officers massacred Gambian student protesters back in April of 2000. Journalist Omar Barrow was killed during that demonstration.

Ousman Badjie was among the officers indicted by the Lartey Commission. Dictator Jammeh later granted them amnesty. They were indemnified from prosecution.

President Adama Barrow and his wife are encouraging former Jammeh enablers to bounce back in the system. From Momodou Tangara, Mamburay Njie, Alhagie Ceesay, the list goes on and on have nothing to present to this country. They are only good at ass kissing.

The transition period has been rendered useless—thanks to the Barrows. They are busy consolidating themselves at the expense of poor Gambia. The government is now in the hands of Jammeh’s former enablers.

IT IS ALMOST ONE YEAR, BARROW HASN’T RELEASED THE FARABA COMMISSION REPORT; HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION CHAIRMAN JOOF SHOULD RESIGN!

$

It was in September of 2018 that Emmanuel Joof, the former Chairman of the Faraba Banta Commission presented his findings report to President Adama Barrow. The Commission was set up to investigate the murder of three Faraba residents and the massive destruction to property in that location of The Gambia. Environmentalists had protested against the Julakay Engineering Construction Company. The company had been accused of environmental degradation and exploitation by the people of Faraba.

It is about one year since Adama Barrow received that Faraba Commission report. Barrow is required by law to share the content of the Commission report with Gambians within six months, but he has miserably failed to do so. He is either not following the dictates of the law or maybe he is ignorant about his duties as Commander-in-chief.

The Gambia is a very corrupt nation. Ethical values, principles, and honesty are often ignored. Personal interest seems to have superseded national interest.

The lawyer, who headed the Faraba Commission Emmanuel Joof, was appointed by Barrow to head the newly created Human Rights Commission of The Gambia, few weeks after he had presented his report to Barrow. Joof accepted the job without factoring the implications of the Executive trying to buy his support.

Joof’s report on Faraba has not been released; it appears that he (Joof) lacks what it takes to take on Barrow to release his report—given the compromising move he has taken to accept a job offer from a regime, which had been linked to human rights violations.

Joof was hired by a President, who hardly pays attention to national details. His boss hardly reads and comprehends issues. He has been surrounded by sycophants, former Jammeh enablers and opportunists.

The personnel of the police intervention unit (PIU) officers, who were linked to the murder of the Faraba environmentalists, worked for the regime, that Joof, had accepted to head its Human Rights Commission.

If it is true that Joof is not ethically compromised, one would have expected him and his staff at the Human Rights Commission to call on Barrow to release that report. But that is not happening so far.

It was Joof, who recently condemned the likes of the Presidential Youth Adviser Henry Gomez, Interior Minister Ebrima Mballow, and Tourism Minister Hamat Bah for communicating what he considered as “hate speech and threatening remarks” against the three years jotna protesters. Joof was hailed by the EU Ambassador in The Gambia for his condemnation of the regime. Yet, Joof is not bold enough to take on Barrow on a report he had authored. Something is not adding up here.

The bereaved families in Faraba and the people of The Gambia do not deserve a President, who squats on Commission reports. Our people also do not deserve a Human Rights Commission whose appointees would continue to serve a regime that its President would squat on its reports.

Emmanuel Joof should consider resigning if his work is not respected by his employer. His appointment sounded like what we called here in America quid pro quo. A  Google online dictionary defines quid pro quo as “a favor or advantage granted or expected in return for something.” We rest our case.

GAMBIA: JUSTICE MINISTER TAMBADOU IS UNDER FIRE; “I FEEL SO DISRESPECTED AS A MOTHER THAT MY GOV’T IS SETTING FREE THE MEN WHO JUST CONFESSED IN THE SAVAGE KILLING OF MY SON,” SAID YA MAMIE CEESAY, MOTHER OF ALHAJI CEESAY.”

Abubacarr Tambadou, the Attorney General and Minister of Justice of Gambia,  announced on Monday August 5 that he is ordering the release the  three “Junglers” who recently  confessed at the TRRC to taking part in a series of gruesome killings on the orders of Yahya Jammeh. The three are Malick Jatta, Omar Jallow and Amadou Badjie.

The Junglers were a notorious unofficial paramilitary unit drawn from the State Guard, that took its orders directly from Jammeh.

At his press conference, Minister Tambedou did not set out any restrictions which would prevent the freed Junglers from now leaving the country.

You may contact the following persons for reactions, or use the quotes below:

YA MAMIE CEESAY, THE MOTHER OF THE MURDERED GAMBIAN AMERICAN ALHAGIE MAMUT CEESAY

“I feel so disrespected as a mother that my government is setting free the men who just confessed in the savage killing of my son,” said Ya Mamie Ceesay,  mother of Alhaji Ceesay,  one of  two Gambian-American businessmen killed in 2013. According to two of the Junglers, Alhaji Ceesay and Ebou Jobe were suffocated and decapitated under orders from  Jammeh that “they be chopped into pieces.”  ”What is the point of truth if the perpetrators of these  crimes are set loose ?”

BABA HYDARA’S THE SON OF THE MURDERED GAMBIA JOURNALIST DEYDA HYDARA

“It’s wrong to hear all these confessions, then release the killers out in our streets, out in our communities, out in our societies,” said  Baba Hydara, the son of Deyda Hydara, a prominent newspaper editor who was murdered in a drive-by killing in December 2004. In July 2019,  ex-Jungler Malick Jatta admitted that he had been one of the men who shot Deyda Hydara.   “Imagine if it were your neighbor, you would sleep with one eye open. We can’t be safe. We say no to releasing all these confessed killers.”

REED BRODY, HUMAN RIGHTS WATCH

“If these hitmen flee The Gambia now, not only will they escape justice, but we will lose the key witnesses in any future trial against Yahya Jammeh for ordering these gruesome crimes,”  said Reed Brody of Human Rights Watch,  who is coordinating the push for the criminal prosecution of Mr. Jammeh, as he did for the ex-Chadian dictator Hissène Habré, who was convicted in 2016 of crimes against humanity.

THE BARROW GOV’T IS NOT INTERESTED IN JUSTICE; IT WANTS TO FORCE RECONCILIATION ON GAMBIANS-COACH PA SAMBA JAW

“ I have heard the minister argue that their release does not tantamount to an amnesty, but I don’t understand how anybody can justify confessed mass murderers because these are pretty much serial killers. People who have murdered close to fifty people to just release in society, I think it is the wrong move; and I believe it is also demonstration that maybe this government is not very well interested in justice but wants to force reconciliation on Gambians,” Pa Samba Jaw, AKA COACH, a prominent Gambian human rights activist remarked. Jaw was speaking in an interview with this medium.

This followed a move taken by The Gambian government order for the release of three soldiers, who told the country’s Truth, Reconciliation and Reparations Commission (TRRC) that they committed gross human rights violations during former dictator Yahya Jammeh’s regime. They admitted to involvement in the murder of journalist Deyda Hydara, the massacre of 50 West African migrants mistaken for rebels, and two Gambian Americans, among other killings.

Justice Minister Abubacarr Tambadou told a news conference yesterday that the soldiers would be released pending the outcome of the TRRC proceedings.

“The decision to recommend the release of the three men, who have been in custody for over two and half years now, has not been an easy one for me, especially considering the victims and their mourning families. But I cannot shy away from making decisions because they may be unpopular. I have a responsibility that compels me to consider all relevant factors in making decisions,” Tambadou said.

Jaw says he also doesn’t think the government is committed to pursuing justice, making true reconciliation impossible. He accused the Barrow government of not prioritizing justice in the ongoing TRRC proceedings.

“I believe that in as much as I loved to reconcile, but I believe that reconciliation without justice amounts to an insult to the victims. And I also believe very strongly that this government, especially President Barrow, demonstrated his own, that they have little or no regard for the victims. If you call it political expediency, that may be a correct thing; but I also think they lack the political will to ensure that there is justice for the victims,” Jaw remarked.

Jaw cited the jungullars’ admission to murdering  the two Gambian Americans: Alhagie Mamut Ceesay and Ebou Jobe. He says Ceesay and Jobe had their heads decapitated by their killers. He added that the state releasing the jungullars, will only cause more trauma and pain to the bereaved families.

Jaw called on Gambians, including victims of dictator Yahya Jammeh to pressurize the Barrow regime to prioritize justice in the ongoing TRRC proceedings. He says President Barrow’s government has not demonstrated any seriousness in addressing the plight of the Jammeh victims.

MEET THE MAN, ALHAGIE MARR, THE FORMER SOLDIER, WHO REPORTED THE TWO GAMBIAN AMERICANS TO JAMMEH TO BE MURDERED; PER SOLDIER PA OUSMAN SANNEH’S TRRC TESTIMONY

A Gambian soldier Pa Ousman Sanneh, has revealed how the two Gambian Americans Alhagie Mamut Ceesay and Ebou Jobe, were infiltrated by one Alhagie Marr, a former soldier, who turned them into dictator Yahya Jammeh, who later ordered his assassin team called the jungullars to murder the duo.  Sanneh was giving evidence before Gambia’s TRRC on Wednesday. He testified that Alhagie Marr, was working with their leader Major Ba-Nuha Badjie, prior to the arrest of the two Americans. Marr told them that Ceesay and Jobe were mercenaries from the United States, who were allegedly plotting to overthrow dictator Yahya Jammeh’s rule.

THE LATE CEESAY AND JOBE

“On the day of the operation to arrest Alhagie Mamut Ceesay and Ebou Jobe, Bai-Nuha Badjie, asked me (Pa Ousman Sanneh) and Captain Michael Correa to monitor the two Gambian Americans at a Chinese restaurant they were in around the Senegambia area with Alhagie Marr. Michael Correa doesn’t know Alhagie Marr. I told him that I know Marr. He used to work under me at the army. When we arrived at the restaurant, I pulled Alhagie Marr aside and introduced him to Michael Correa. At this time, we already got the vehicle license plate of  Ceesay and Jobe. They were with two women at the restaurant. Alhagie Marr was also with them,” Sanneh testified.

“When Ceesay and Jobe left the restaurant, while heading to their car, we called the soldiers, who had already mounted a Motor vehicle checkpoint (MVC) traffic control outside the restaurant. They were stopped upon reaching the MVC checkpoint and arrested. Yahya Jammeh had already given orders that the men should be taken to Kanilai. We visited the home they were staying in, before proceeding to Kanilai. When we arrived in Kanilai, our seniors escorted them into Jammeh’s home. They later came and asked us to escort Ceesay and Jobe into the bush. We drove for some time before reaching the execution ground. I Pa Ousman Sanneh, Omar A. Jallow, and others dug the grave in which Ceesay and Jobe were to be buried. I was not present when they were being killed. Yahya Jammeh had ordered us to kill and chop them into pieces. The heads of Ceesay and Jobe were cutoff. We then buried them,” Sanneh revealed.

Sanneh remarked that the order to kill the two Gambian Americans came from Yahya Jammeh. He said Alhagie Marr was the one, who reported the duo to the authorities. Marr alleged that Ceesay and Jobe were plotting to overthrow The Gambian government.

Who is Alhagie Marr ?

Jungullar Pa Ousman Sanneh referred to him as Alhagie Marr. He was the one, who reported the two Gambian Americans to the authorities. He is a native Munyagen, in the Jokadu District. Jokadu is located in the North Bank Division of The Gambia.

He and Ebou Jobe were friends. They knew each other. Marr is part of the army’s intake 17. He used to work at the Farafeni barracks.

Alhagie Marr’s mother and Ebou Jobe’s mother shared the same Mum and Dad. The two are brothers. Ebou Jobe’s mother came from Munyagen. Her husband is a native of Kerr-Jarga.

Marr used to hangout with them prior to their arrest.

It is not clear if he will ever have his day at the TRRC to relate his own side of the story, regarding the murder of Ceesay and Jobe.

Pa Ousman Sanneh Admits Taking Part In The Murder of Baba Jobe

Pa Ousman Sanneh has also admitted to taking part in the murder of Baba Kajali Jobe. He testified that they were ordered by Yahya Jammeh to kill Jobe. Jobe was admitted at the Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital private ward, when Jammeh ordered for his killing. Sanneh said the order to kill Jobe was given to their leader Ba-Nuha Badjie by Jammeh. Jobe was serving time in prison. He was about to finish his jail term, when he got ill.

JUNGULLAR PA OUSMAN SANNEH

According to Sanneh, some of their men walked into the hospital, while others jumped through the fence to meet Jobe at his ward. He said he and Omar A. Jallow walked into the hospital. Jallow was assigned to survey the ward before Jobe was attacked and killed. Jobe was sleeping, when the jungullars entered his ward and suffocated him to death.

Sanneh has admitted to taking part in other Jammeh ordered killings. He apologized to his victims during his closing testimony. He said he has regretted his actions. He also said they were merely executing orders from their superiors to kill innocent lives.

THE LATE BABA JOBE

Pa Sanneh is a native of Kartong. He told the Commission that his own in law the late Lieutenant Girbil Saye was killed in the aftermath of the November 11th 1994 failed coup. Sanneh said he was the one, who opened the cell in which Saye and co were detained before their execution. Saye even gave him a check and other belonging to it hand over to Saye’s wife.  Sanneh and Saye’s wife came from the same home in Kartong.

The Chairman of the TRRC Dr. Lamin Cise, couldn’t hold himself amid multiple perpetrators admitting to killing their countrymen. Cisse remarked that The Gambia is going through hell today–given what he calls “the disturbing revelations coming from the Commission.” He added that the jungullars were operating like Adolf Hitler’s agents in Germany by purging Jews into gas chambers. He also says similar forces are operating in Sudan called the Janjaweed. Cise called for an end to such human rights violations in The Gambia.

MY OWN BROTHER ALHAGIE MARR, REPORTED MY SENIOR GAMBIAN AMERICAN BROTHER EBOU JOBE TO BE MURDERED TOGETHER WITH ALH. MAMUT CEESAY BY DICTATOR YAHYA JAMMEH’S ASSASSIN TEAM-MUSTAPHA JOBE

His Gambian American brother Ebou Jobe was murdered in cold blood by dictator Yahya Jammeh’s assassin agents during a visit to The Gambia back in May of 2013. Jobe was murdered together with his Texas Gambian American friend Alhagie Mamut Ceesay. The duos were turned in to dictator Jammeh by Jobe’s own brother Alhagie Marr, who alleged that Jobe and Ceesay were plotting to overthrow Jammeh’s regime. Jobe’s mum and Marr’s mum shared the same Mum and Dad.

The late Ebou Jobe was a Manager at a Walmart Store in Long Island in New York before his murder in The Gambia. He left three boys behind. The kids reside in Maryland with their mum.

Mustapha Jobe is a junior brother to the late Ebou Jobe. He lives in the United Kingdom.

Speaking in an interview with Freedom Radio Gambia’s Thursday Civic Education show, Jobe said he was shocked to learn from Gambia’s Truth, Reconciliation and Reparations (TRRC) that his brother Ebou Jobe was falsely accused and turned in by Alhagie Marr, a relative of theirs to dictator Jammeh on coup allegations. Jobe says given the family relationship between Marr and his family, it was wrong for Marr to be part of any plot to falsely implicate his brother Ebou Jobe and Alhagie Mamut Ceesay.

Marr is a former Gambian soldier. He was part of the army’s intake 17 batch. He left The Gambia, in the wake of Jobe and Ceesay’s murder by Jammeh’s assassin team known as the jungullars.

“The entire family is confused right now. He has brought division within the family. I first heard about Alhagie Marr’s involvement in the murder of my brother Ebou Jobe via Freedom Radio Gambia, before the TRRC proceedings. A caller to the Radio once said he was reliably told that Marr reported Jobe and Ceesay to the authorities on allegations of coup plot. Alhagie Marr is related to us. His mum and Ebou Jobe’s mum shared the same Mum and Dad. I heard from a TRRC perpetrator, who confessed to taking part int their murder saying that it was Alhagie Marr, who reported them to Yahya Jammeh. Soldier Pa Ousman Sanneh said he and Captain Michael Correa were assigned to monitor Jobe and Ceesay’s activities at a restaurant around the Senegambia. They were with Alhagie Marr. Marr was passing information to Jammeh’s assassin team about Jobe and Ceesay,” Jobe remarked.

Mustapha Jobe and Ebou Jobe shared the same Dad. He is not very familiar with Alhagie Marr. Marr spent most of his youthful days in the Greater Banjul Area. Marr is his elder brother, per their family relationship.

“I want to believe that Marr reported them because he was jealous of my brother’s success story in the US and life improvements. He might also reported them because of cash. He was the one, who reported them to Jammeh. He facilitated their murder. I was told that he is no longer in The Gambia. He has murdered his own relative Ebou Jobe,” Jobe added.

Pa Ousman Sanneh, a member of dictator Jammeh’s assassin team told the TRRC that he and his colleagues dug the grave in which Jobe and Ceesay were buried in the bushes of Kanilai, dictator Jammeh’s home locality. Sanneh, a native Kartong, said Jammeh had ordered them to murder Jobe and Ceesay. Jammeh also told them to chop their bodies into pieces. He added that Jobe and Ceesay were slaughtered shortly after their strangulation to death.

Mustapha Jobe has called on Justice Minister Abubacarr Tambadou to rescind his decision to release the three jungullars, who admittwed to killing political opponents. Two of the jungullars: Omar A. Jallow and Amadou Badjie had admitted to taking part in the murder of Ebou Jobe and Alhagie Mamut Ceesay.

Jobe says Tambadou’s decision will only cause more trauma to Jammeh’s victims. He also says it would create national security issues for the country—given what he called the victims current temperament towards the disturbing revelations coming from the Commission.

Jobe says he is beginning to loose faith and hope in the Barrow government’s promise to availing justice to the perpetrators of human rights violations during Jammeh’s rule. He added that the regime’s handling of the jungullars’ cases doesn’t manifest that it is interested in justice.

“No one can force reconciliation on us. In the absence of justice, there cannot be genuine reconciliation. They should engage the victims before arriving at such decision of releasing the jungullars,” he remarked.

HIGHLY PLACED SOURCES close to Gambia’s Armed Forces said soldier Bai Jobe, a former bodyguard to former Vice President Isatou Njie Saidy, had back in May of 2013, prior to the arrest of the two Gambian Americans Alhagie Mamut Ceesay, and Ebou Jobe, filed a complaint with the military intelligence unit, alleging that the duos had contacted him before their arrival in the country to help recruit soldiers for them to overthrow dictator Jammeh’s rule, Freedom Newspaper can reveal. Mr. Jobe now works with the military police. He is stationed at the Fajara barracks.

Soldier Bai Jobe and the late Ebou Jobe came from the same village Kerr-Jarga. Kerr-Jarga is located in Jokadu District, in the North Bank Division of The Gambia.  He was a close friend of Ebou Jobe.

Bai Jobe had reported the numerous phone conversations he had with Ebou Jobe and Alhagie Mamut Ceesay to the former Director of the Military Intelligence unit Colonel Malamin Jarju, sources familiar with the story have intimated. He used to frequent the Army Headquarters in Banjul to brief Mr. Jarju about his dealings with the two Gambian Americans, sources added.

Bai Jobe, according to sources, had claimed that he doesn’t want to be accused of concealing alleged treasonable act; hence he decided to report the matter to the military intelligence unit.

“The military intelligence had already received information about Ebou Jobe and Alhagie Mamut Ceesay prior to their arrival in the country. It was Bai Jobe, who reported them. They were in touch with Jobe prior to their arrival in the country. Malamin Jarju can confirm this. Bai Jobe himself cannot deny that he did not report Ceesay and Jobe,” said our sources.

“Bai Jobe and Ebou Jobe are neighbors in Kerr-Jarga. They came from the same village. Per the GAF records here, he was the one coming in to brief the military intelligence. Colonel Malamin Jarju was commanding the unit at the time,” our sources remarked.

Also named in the murder of Alhagie Mamut Ceesay and Ebou Jobe, was one Alhagie Marr, a former soldier. Marr is a brother to the late Ebou Jobe. He is a native of Munyagen. His mum and Jobe’s mum shared the mum and dad. Ebou Jobe’s mum hailed from Munyagen.

Jungullar Pa Ousman Sanneh told the TRRC that Marr was the point of contact between the jungullars and the two murdered Gambian Americans. He was with Ceesay and Jobe on the night that they were at a Chinese restaurant around the Senegambia before their arrest and subsequent killing.

THE NEWLY HIRED SSHFC HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGER, MIGHT LIKELY NOT BE ABLE TO TAKE UP HER EMPLOYMENT, AS SHE AND HER FORMER HUSBAND HAVE BEEN ENGAGED IN A CHILD CUSTODY BATTLE IN SWEDEN!

The newly appointed Social Security Housing and Finance Corporation Director of Human Resources and Admin Mamalinguere Sarr, is likely not going to be able take up her appointment, as she faces child custody battle with her ex Gambian husband in Sweden, Freedom Newspaper can reveal. Ms. Sarr and her husband Ousman Sillah had ended their years long marital life sometime ago. The former couple had two kids: A boy and a girl.

Ms. Sarr wanted to travel to Banjul with her two kids to start a new work life in the tiny West African country, but her former husband wouldn’t let her leave with the kids. He is also battling access to the kids, sources have revealed.

Ms. Sarr is currently faced with child custody dilemma with her former husband, sources remarked. She is yet to be granted permission by the Swedish courts to have sole custody of her two kids.

Child custody battle litigation is common amongst some Gambian families in Sweden. Unless the court finalizes its decision on the matter, Ms. Sarr cannot head out to Banjul with the kids. This might affect her recent job employment opportunity at the SSHFC, sources said.

Contacted for comment, Ms. Sarr said: “ This is a family matter and I do not want to comment on it.”

It has been gathered that Fatoumatta Rahim Cooker is also faced with similar challenges with her former husband Galleh Jallow. She and Jallow had divorced. She and her former husband are going to court over child custody issues.

According to sources, both Mama Sarr and Fatoumatta Rahim Cooker doesn’t want to leave their kids behind. They have both  found themselves in protracted child custody cases with their former husbands.

Mama’s former husband and Ms. Cooker’s former husband are close buddies. The duos could not be reached for their own side of the story.

IS THE EU RELUCTANT TO RENEW FUNDING FOR THE ECOMIG FORCES IN THE GAMBIA?

$

It doesn’t look like the European Union (EU) is keen at renewing and extending the security project that funds the continuous presence and mandate of the West African troops stationed in The Gambia (ECOMIG). The funding program has been scheduled to expire this month. So far, there is no formal statement from the EU expressing its intention of renewing the ECOMIG peacekeeping mission to The Gambia.

President Adama Barrow came to power in December of 2016. His administration has been routinely criticized by the EU Ambassador to The Gambia, Attila Lajos for failing to spearhead a meaningful national security reform program for The Gambia. Lajos is not impressed with the pace of Gambia’s National Security Reform.

The EU Ambassador has also been calling for accountability and transparency in Barrow’s government in recent media news report monitored by this medium.

Lajos and his team in Banjul had  been playing an excellent role in helping the new government to have access to EU funds since the advent of Barrow’s government. But it seems that the international goodwill for Barrow’s shattered and failed Coalition government, has disappeared. The regime is increasingly becoming unpopular both locally and internationally.

Allegations of official graft, lawlessness, and gross abdication of duties by the President are common public outcry in the country. Gambians are disappointed with Adama Barrow.

Barrow is apparently not willing to publish the Faraba Commission Report. He hasn’t also not shared the  content of Janneh Commission report with The Gambian public. Barrow is being aided by former corrupt Jammeh enablers.

Gambia’s donor partners had spent several million of dollars to help revamp the country’s discredited national security apparatus. The National Security Service reform program is being headed by Justice Minister Tambadou.

Momodou Badjie, a former Jammeh Ambassador to Mauritania, is overseeing the security reform. Badjie is a National Security Adviser to Adama Barrow.

Inside the Barrow administration, there is concern over the long-term sustainability of the ECOMIG forces in the country. The government doesn’t have money to maintain the sub-regional forces. It is hoping to secure funding from the African Union or the EU to prolong the continuous stay of the  ECOMIG forces in the impoverished West African nation.

HAMAT BAH’S PROPOSAL TO HANDOVER THE NRP PARTY TO ADAMA BARROW, CAUSES POLITICAL UPHEAVAL WITHIN THE NRP LEADERSHIP; DEPUTY LEADER MUSA L.. SONKO AND CO OPPOSED THE DEAL!

There is a power struggle storm at the National Reconciliation Party (NRP). A proposal made by the NRP leader Hamat Bah to handover the party to the confused and rookie President Adama Barrow, is causing an upheaval among the rank and file of the party. Bah had no intention of leading the party. He wants Adama Barrow to head the NRP. The NRP has been divided into two camps: There is this camp led by the Minority Leader Samba Jallow and five other NRP MPS, who are seemingly in support of Bah’s proposal to handover the party to Barrow. But the other camp led by the party’s Deputy Leader Musa L. Sonko, are opposed to Bah’s proposal to allow Barrow to lead their party. The NRP is in complete mess as we file this report. Hamat Bah has created a division within the NRP.

Below is a dispatch we received from credible sources.

………………………………………..

Hello Pa, there is  a pandemonium between Hamat Bah and his  5 MPS led by Minority Leader Hon Samba Jallow and NRP Deputy Party Leader Musa L. Sonko. Samba Jallow’s group are supporting Hamat to let Adama Barrow take over the NRP. Musa and few of the NRP Executive Members are opposed to accepting Hamat Bah’s proposal.

Hamat had invited his 5 MPS to a meeting with Barrow, where he allegedly told his MPs that he no longer can lead the Party. Minority leader Samba Jallow allegedly told Barrow that he should help them reorganize and take back their supporters from GDC, but Barrow allegedly told him (he) Barrow planned to take over NRP, as a party. Minority leader Samba Jallow with his MPs planned to travel to the provinces tomorrow to consult with the NRP members about letting Barrow take over the party.

Musa Sonko with his colleague NRP members are opposed to the deal. They do not want Adama Barrow to takeover the NRP. Sonko and his group are likely going to organize a press conference to expose Hamat Bah’s dishonest and mischievous plans to handover the party to Adama Barrow.

MASSIVE CORRUPTION AND NEPOTISM AT DLEAG; DLEAG DEPUTY PR OFFICER YASSIN NDIMBALAN TRANSFERRED TO THE BRUSUBI POLICE CHILD WELFARE UNIT AFTER AFTER HOSTING A PRESS CONFERENCE ON THE SEIZED 48 PACKS OF COCAINE!

Hello Pa,

I am a keen follower of your reputable newspaper and I have a sensitive information that I wish to share with you so that you can do further investigations. I appeal to you to protect my identity.
Pa, the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency is involved in massive cocaine trafficking. The agency’s Director General is not actually running the agency. Alagie Bakary Gassama (DG) is just a cosmetic Director. Lamin J Gassama aka Leffeh, the Director of Intelligence /Investigations &International Cooperation is presently the Supreme Director General of DLEAG because he dictates and commands the Director General on the daily affairs of the agency.
Under the  office of Director of Intelligence /Investigation & International Cooperation are the following units; Treaty Implementation Unit, Intelligence & Investigation Unit, Sensitive Investigation Unit, Intelligence Analysis Unit, Money Laundering & Asset Recovery Unit, Seaport and Airport Command Unit, Amdalai Border Command Unit, Tourism Development Area Command Unit (Senegambia Area) and DLEAG staff under Financial Investigation Unit(FIU). All these units are under Lamin J Gassama aka Leffeh and they also report directly to him because these are the most sensitive units of the agency and also the entry points /gateway for cocaine into the Gambia. He(Leffeh) has a share in most of the cocaine deals in this country.
After the discovery of the 48 blocks of cocaine, another 10 containers were of the same consignment were further searched and some more blocks of Cocaine were recovered but such was never reported in the news. The reason why the first 48 blocks of cocaine were reported was because the labourers that discovered the drugs were initially offered bribes with a huge sum of money; but because of the number of people involved and the fact that most of the labourers refused to accept the money, they decided to give it publicity.
This publicity made by the deputy spokesperson of DLEAG, Yassin Ndimbalan, did not go down well with the Director of Intelligence Lamin J Gassama who was under pressure from his business counterparts so it resulted in the removal of the deputy spokesperson Yassin Ndimbalan from her position and now moved to the child welfare unit in Brusubi station.
What is more interesting Pa is that the Director of Intelligence /Investigations is recorded by one of his ring boys during the conversation he had with one of his business counterparts regarding the bail of the two culprits who were arrested (Mahdi Tajudinn & Osama Mahmoud). Imagine the two suspects were granted bail just two days after their arrest.
According to sources within the agency, the motive behind the removal of the deputy spokesperson Yassin Ndimbalan from her position and subsequent transfer is for the elevation of one of the boys from the same unit who would do his bidding and he happens to be a cousin to the Director General of DLEAG.
Pa I trust you can do further investigations because am confident that Freedom Newspaper can sniff out information wherever it wants in this country.

NRP WANTS VP POSITION; SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE; AND MINISTERIAL POSITIONS IN A BARROW NRP PARTY MERGER; NRP MINORITY LEADER IS IN MOROCCO ON A MISSION!

The National Reconciliation Party (NRP) Minority Leader in the National Assembly Samba Jallow, is said to be in Morocco. He is on a mission there. NRP insiders said Jallow is not happy with the recent Freedom Newspaper publication about their leader Hamat Bah, wanting to handover the party to Adama Barrow. Jallow is the MP for the Niamina Dankunku Constituency. He is likely going to convene a press conference to debunk our piece. We are looking forward to hearing his own side of the story. We standby our story.

There is a new deal being flooded within the NRP pro-Hamat Bah/Adama Barrow camp. We have been briefed about a possible merger between the NRP and Barrow’s camp. Hamat Bah, according to NRP sources, said he can no longer finance his party—the NRP. Bah wants to see a merger (Coalition) between the NRP and Barrow’s upcoming political front. He also wants Barrow to finance his party’s Extra-Ordinary Congress which is due later this year.

One of the conditions for the proposed merger, was for Adama Barrow to ensure that the NRP’s assets are secured and protected. The party also wants Barrow to consider allocating them the following positions: Vice President, Speaker of the National Assembly, and some Ministerial positions.

Minority Leader Samba Bah, and his team intend to embark on a consultation tour of the country, on August 26th 2019, provided that Adama Barrow agrees to finance their tour. We are keenly monitoring developments at the NRP. Stay tuned.
