As the KMC Mayoral race is getting closer, United Democratic Party (UDP) leader Ousainou Darboe has lauded Talib Ahmed Bensouda, describing him as a ‘young visionary leader’. Bensouda is the flag bearer of Gambia’s largest political organisation in the Kanifing Municipality, and is vying for the top post in the area.

“Talib Bensouda is a young, dynamic and visionary person. He is exposed and has experience,” UDP emblematic figure told this reporter in an interview.
Gambia’s biggest municipality has become a battleground for political parties and independent candidates pushing ahead with their plan to capture the mind of the electorate. Bensouda is announced as a major contender for the control of the KMC.
Ousainou Darboe, who doubles as Gambia’s Foreign Affairs Minister, said Talib Bensouda is not ‘infected’ with virus of politicians.
“He is coming there with a great ambition to transform this municipality, to ensure that service delivery is next to none,” he added.
Darboe said he knows that Bensouda has the capability to deliver on expectations. “He has the will, and the vision to do so.”
KMC Mayoral aspirant Talib Bensouda, who spoke to this reporter, outlined a five-point plan geared towards bringing a radical transformation at the KMC.
UDP candidate for mayorship announced plan to relocate the Bakoteh dumpsite, which continues to pose environmental hazards to the people of Bakoteh, Manjai and the surrounding areas.
“We’ll look at all options on the table, and will go for the most feasible one,” he said.
