BREAKING NEWS: GUNFIRE HEARD AT THE SENEGAMBIA BRIDGE; FOUR BELLIGERENT SENEGALESE MEN ARRESTED FOR FAILING TO STOP AT A MILITARY CHECKPOINT

Police in Farafenni, North Bank Region (NBR) took into custody 4 Senegalese men who were riding on motorbikes from the Casamance region and heading to Touba. According to eyewitnesses, the four men arrived at the Senegambia bridge and refused to stop and pay toll fees, when soldiers from 2nd Infantry Battalion in Farafenni, stationed at the bridge tried to stop them, the ruthless Senegalese men refused to stop and in the process, hit an armed Gambian soldier, whose AK47 rifle got broken, a second soldier fired in the air which led the men to stop and were all arrested, taken to the farafenni Barracks and later to the Farafenni Police station, where the men had been detained since on Saturday afternoon, slammed with 3 counts of Failing to stop at a checkpoint, Willful damage to government property and prohibition of conduct.

However, sources close to the police, has intimated to the Freedom Newspaper that the four men were granted bail on Monday afternoon and are expected to be arranged to Court anytime soon.

The police spokesman Lamin Njie could not be reached for comment at the time of going to press.

The army spokesman could also not be reached for comment.
