Molamin Gikineh was at his Kanifing Estate home this evening, when a visitor told him that he has found a pile of voter’s cards dumped at his compound gate. Gikineh, then went out to check and found fifty (50) brand new voter’s cards dumped outside his compound gate. The voter’s card bears the name of the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC), though, it doesn’t have any pictures or names of people associated with the issued cards. These were new voter’s cards with no information. The cards were issued blank, with no information in it.
Upon his discovering what he called the weird voter’s cards, Gikineh first contacted the Freedom Newspaper to inform us about what he saw. He said he doesn’t know the person(s) who dumped the voter’s card at his home.
“One of my relatives came to visit this evening and he told me, Uncle there are voter’s cards dumped at your compound gate. I had other visitors in the house at the time. I then went out to check, but to my chagrin, I found 50 voter’s cards sitting at my house gate. I used a glove to pick them up and put them in a bag. I don’t know who is behind this. I am not into politics. I am a private citizen going about my business. I am not engage in politics,” Gikineh told me in a phone conversation on Saturday.
“I found the voter’s cards at my house gate little past 8:00 o’clock in the evening. My neighbors here are foreigners mainly from Senegal. I am going to report the matter to the Kanifing police. I will hand them over the voter’s cards I found,” Gikineh added.
Mr. Gikineh is lives in Switzerland. He is currently on vacation in The Gambia.
“I don’t know why anyone should target my house for the dumping of voter’s cards. This is weird. I will be grateful if you can publish this story in your paper,” he pleaded.
