A magistrate in Brikama today discharged the twenty two rioters, who have been accused of burning a police station and a Chinese fish meal factory in Sanyang village. Magistrate Isatou Darboe did not refer the case to the high court but she instead discharged the accused persons, a law enforce the officer told me.
Meanwhile, as soon as the accused persons were discharged, the police moved in to rearrest them.
The Brikama magistrate court lacks jurisdiction to hear the high profile case. The prosecution wants the case to be referred to the high court for hearing, but unfortunately magistrate I Darboe never referred the case to the high court. The accused persons were discharged, but later rearrested.
