The Protocol and Welfare Officer at The Gambian High Commission in the United Kingdom, Serign Bamba Mass says he is not aware of him being investigated on any sort of allegations. “That is the biggest lie that anyone can concord against me. I am not under investigations. Investigated by who? That’s is a lie. It is false,” Bamba Mass tells me in a phone conversation on Wednesday.
These followed reports reaching this medium that Mr. Bamba Mass had a problem with a lady, he was staying with at his East London home. The report also went on to state that Mr. Mass had allegedly sublet one of his rooms to a Gambian, which was against the UK laws.
Reacting to the story, Bamba Mass, clarified that he once hosted a Gambian Spanish Lady at his home, but he ended up evicting her. He says he evicted the lady, as a result of her alleged conduct at his home.
Mass says the lady in question, was allegedly seeing (bringing) a man at his home, which he says, was against his moral code. Hence, he decided to evict her last month.
According to Bamba Mass, he hosted the lady, when he realized that she had no place to live. As a Welfare Officer at The Gambian High Commission in London, Mass says, one of his jobs, include, helping and taking care of the needs of The Gambian Community in the United Kingdom.
“I never sublet my home. I am hosting Gambians at my home for free. That’s my job. If anyone tells you that I sublet my home is a lie. In fact, my landlady is a Gambian. It is part of my job to help Gambians, who are in need of help,” Mass remarked.
Bamba Mass says Malick Jeng of the Tourism Ministry, can bear him witness about his account of events. He said Malick was staying with him prior to the eviction of the lady.
“I hosted Malick Jeng here at my home. I was in India, when I received information that the lady, was bringing men to my home. I am staying with my daughter. I wouldn’t entertain anyone, who brings men into my home,” he remarked.
Mass has denied ever soliciting the lady in question for alleged sex. He says he is happily married and wouldn’t indulge himself in such acts.
“Please get back to your sources for further information. What they are telling you, is not true. I have no problem with that lady. I am not sure if you are referring to the said lady, I evicted. I evicted her based on moral principles,” he added.
Bamba Mass also said he takes his job seriously as Protocol and Welfare Officer. He said he has been hired to do a job, and he will continue do it to the best of his ability.
When asked whether he was worried to be laid off, as there were media reports circulating that over 21 foreign service staffers would be recalled home, Mass Says, as far as he was concerned, he was doing his job to the best of his ability, and the rest would be determined by destiny. He says he had been privileged to serve his country and he would continue to strive for excellence in the due execution of his duties as a Protocol and Welfare Officer.
