Unless Adama Barrow changes his mind, reports have it that Gambia’s Vice President Ousainou Darboe and some UDP Ministers will be fired on Friday, Freedom Newspaper can reveal. Darboe and that of the UDP Ministers’ sacking was discussed at the State House yesterday. The rookie President wants to end his political marriage with the UDP team in his cabinet.
“Barrow told us that he is going to fire Darboe and the UDP Ministers. He also said he is going to make some firings in the Foreign Service. Some of the Ambassadors, and Deputy Ambassadors, who were handpicked by Darboe are also going to be fired,” said a close aide of the President.
“The new year is going to be an interesting one. The President is delaying the sacking of the UDP Ministers for a reason. He has been busy scouting for their replacement. There will be some new faces in Adama Barrow’s cabinet. He is going to hire young and dynamic Gambians to help run his agenda for this country,” the aide said.
According to our source, if Darboe and his UDP partners are not fired this Friday, they will be shown the exit door in the first week of the New Year.
“Adama has made up his mind already. He said he cannot continue to work with Darboe and the UDP Ministers in his government. Trade Minister Amadou Sanneh, Agriculture Minister Lamin Ndombou Dibba and others are going. Information Minister Ebrima Sillah is also likely going to be purged during the upcoming cabinet reshuffle. Barrow is not sure about where Ebrima’s loyalty lies. He thinks that Sillah is hiding under the fence. He is also going to make drastic changes in the security sector as well,” another source close to the Presidency told this medium.
