The Barrow State House has differed an announcement it intended to make regarding plans by the Equatorial Guinea dictator Obiang to invest in The Gambia, this medium can reveal. This followed, a recent Freedom Newspaper lead story exposing the impending announcement by the government.
It is not clear what must have occasioned the government’s decision to differ the announcement on Obiang’s planned investments in the impoverished West African country. But sources said prior to the Freedom Newspaper story, plans were afoot to issue a press release to inform Gambians about Obiang’s interest in investing in the country.
Equatorial Guinea has been blessed with oil and gas. Obiang has ruled the Spanish speaking country for over 40 years.
President Adama Barrow recently delegated his Foreign Minister Momodou Tangara to meet with Obiang. Tangara was accompanied by Gambia’s spy Chief Ousman Sowe.
